In the pursuit of making your outfits look cooler, you don’t have to invest in a haul of new clothes to make them so. In fact, the secret to adding instant polish and attitude to your ensembles lies with one key accessory—sunglasses. We consider sunglasses to be a year-round staple, but now as we ease into spring, chances are you’ve bumped upgrading your shades up a couple of spots on your sartorial to-do list. While you can quite easily pick up a new pair as you browse online (the high street has plenty of low-cost, on-trend options), some sunglasses brands are in a league of their own. We hope you’re ready because we’re about to introduce you to our pick of said brands. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a d...
Having gone through our fair share of white t-shirts in our time, we can confirm that not all white tees are created equal. Many can barely withstand a couple of washes before their silhouettes start to misshapen, and their brilliant hues start to fade. Still, all hope is not lost. There are superior styles out there, created with longevity in mind, and the last thing we’d want you to do is to have to work your way through letdown after letdown until you find the perfect white t-shirt. So, to help identify the best white t-shirts for women, we spoke to a few of our fashion friends to find out where they buy their white t-shirts from. Covering both high-street and designer bases, scroll below to read why those in the know consider these to be the best white t-shirts for women. You Deserve t...
It may be a coincidence, but it feels like lockdown has yielded a steady stream of practical-minded trends. I’m thinking basic tank tops, insulating puffer coats, park-ready combat boots and throw-on-and-go dresses. The gilet is one such piece that has ticked both the form and function boxes with its layerable appeal, and I’ve seen the trend develop over the last 12 months, appearing in all manner of guises, from shearling and quilted puffers to artisanal quilting and heritage tweed. As someone who loves a cheeky Canadian Tuxedo (look it up), this season’s celebration of all things denim has been music to my ears. Far from Britney-and-Justin’s infamous bleached get-ups c.2001, the head-to-toe denim look for 2021 has an altogether more subtle spin. Thankfully, Zara’s new-in section is packed-full of expensive-looking denim buys: From minimalist silhouettes in the form of boxy shackets and clean-lined jeans, alongside the odd ’70s throwback via A-line midi skirts and belted denim dresses. It’s like the fashion designers of Paris came together (virtually, via Zoom) to decree one giant anti-loungewear campaign for autumn/winter 2021—and I’m so glad they did. Providing the very opposite to the comfortable, easy, athleisure-led clothes we’ve all been leaning into over the past year, French brands are putting a firm stop on that for the end of this year, providing cooler-than-ever workwear options, outrageous party dresses and the kind of loud daytime looks that we would never have imagined on the streets of this fashion capital pre-Covid. But that’s what being restricted and trapped in one’s rotation of leggings can do; many of us are now dreaming of something more joyful, more elaborate and more agenda-setting to wear when life stops be...
London-based clothing brand Appeal to Heaven’s debut collection Antares is inspired by the stars, because although they are so distant, we all celebrate and derive meaning from them. Antares features second skin turtlenecks, leggings, and oversize silk scarves created with the brand’s first original print that mimics the reflections of water. Antares is named after the constellation Scorpius, which founders Nazanin Shahnavaz and Austin Milne explains is “prominent in mythologies from around the world with associations to the heart, deities, rulers and creators. Our pattern looks simultaneously natural and artificial, as if each variant has been run through a computer program that’s left it distorted and skewed. This is the sort of evocative ambiguity we like.”...
As you’d expect for spring, there are florals, but that’s no bad thing. There are bold blooms set against contrasting palettes to striking effect, as well as ditsy petals that climb their way from tiered skirts to high, Victoriana necklines. Then things take a retro turn with paisleys painted in rich sepia tones, while ever-classic monochrome polka dots present a pared-back alternative for the minimalists amongst us. Throw in an updated, more elevated take on leopard spots, and Oasis has ticked off every printed trend of note this season. It turns out we’re not the only ones impressed by Oasis’s spring lineup, as it has caught the eye of some of our favourite influencers, too. Each with different sartorial identities, Eni Ilori, Holly Rebecca White, and Pascale Banks prove that ...
For 2021 my aim is to be as self-disciplined as possible when it comes to trends. While I think designers should keep pushing towards a more timeless approach to design that prioritises longevity, it can be too easy to demonise the concept of trends as a whole. Ultimately, re-invention is what makes fashion so exciting, the key is to just focus on styles that remain true your personal style and that don’t run the risk of being worn once then discarded. With this lens in place, I’ve been passing my eye over the trends that are coming up for spring/summer 2021 and making a shortlist of styles that I feel will slip into my pre-existing wardrobe with ease. My first point of call? The waistcoat. You Deserve to Make Money Ev...
Do you like your dresses big, your accessories minimal and your colour palette offbeat? Then you’re probably a COS girl like quite a few of our fashion friends in the industry. It’s where you can pick up directional, simplistic designs that you’d normally find at much higher price points or from very niche Scandi labels. The fabrics are always top quality, and we still own COS items from the very first season when the brand debuted in the UK. Yep—its wares have stood the test of time and still look mint today. When my Slack messages begin returning to the same topic again and again, it tells me one thing loud a clear—this is about to be big. That’s exactly what occurred to me when my fellow editors started dropping messages with bags from the S/S 21 the Givenchy, Jil Sander, and Hermès collections. All of them with sleek, slim, two-dimensions silhouettes that practically look like manila envelopes. These paper-thin filing folder bags instantly read as fresh and cool. A major departure from the oversize bag trend that popped up a few seasons back, 2D bags might not have as much storage, but are certainly just as eye-catching. Sized to fit your phone and ID (and not much else), they already have me thinking about how I can streamline what I pack into my bag. Ahead, let’s dive into the 2D bag trend...

Prepare to get clicking, because these pieces won’t stick around for long. My vintage shopping franchise is back for another year and with a brand new look. There is nothing I love more than finding an item of clothing or accessory that looks pricer than it really is. I like to think of my ability to spot these pieces very easily as a bit of a superpower. Rather helpfully, the high street is nailing it right now when it comes to affordable but expensive-looking accessories. Three stores in particular—COS, Mango and Arket—all stock totes, clutches and crossbody bags that look way more expensive than their prices. I’d argue they even look designer. In some cases, I bet plenty would say the bags come from places such as The Row or Bottega Veneta. These are bold claims, but I honestly believe that the high street has never been better for great affordable bags. Over the years, I...
