I’m 5’1″—Here Are All the Petite Summer Dresses I Have on My Wish List

It’s not easy being petite. For all the money you spend on clothes, often you have to then fork out even more for alterations. Hemlines are too long, billowing sleeves have too much excess fabric, and don’t even get me started at waistlines that usually end up sitting somewhere around your hips.  Thankfully though, there are currently several brands across the high street that are making things easier for those of us lacking a little bit of height. From Next to New Look, Topshop to ASOS, dedicated petite ranges are becoming much easier to find if you just know where to look.  You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. 14 of the Prettiest Printed Dresses to Throw on With Sandals

One of the best things about summer dressing is the ease of putting an outfit together in the morning. There’s no faffing with layers or spending too long in front of the mirror wondering whether this goes with that. Herein lies the beauty of the dress-and-sandal duo—the simplicity of waking up and throwing on a dress with your favourite sandals and looking not only acceptable but also like you’ve actually put in triple the effort. My personal lockdown experience was transformed when the weather began to warm up and I realised that the right dress can be just as comfy as joggers, and it made me feel altogether more joyful. Now it’s hard to get me to wear anything else.  As we reach peak summer, even if it involves throwing a light jacket over when those pesky British clouds...

How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe That Will Last a Lifetime

Six years on, and we thought it time to catch up with the capsule wardrobe guru for a refresher course. Times change, trends move on, and so do these tidy solutions, and it turns out maybe we took the capsule wardrobe approach too literally and could do with easing up a little. “Before I started my capsule, I’d noticed that I had a bad habit of going shopping when I needed to jolt myself out of a bad mood. Hard day at work? Shopping! Not feeling very pretty today? Shopping! Frustrated with my family? Shopping!” explains Caroline, who has since curbed her emotional spending habits by creating enforced shopping “fasts” and focusing her attention on seeking out top-quality, long-lasting pieces. These factors have meant that all the while she’s really f...

Pretty Face Masks Exist—I’ve Found 17 of Them

As I’m now slowly venturing out into London again, I’m building up my collection of face masks so that I have one readily available in all of my handbags. This is an important item for practical purposes. I’m certainly not suggesting it is a fashion statement, but nevertheless, I’m finding myself drawn to the leopard- and floral-printed varieties that are now available. Numerous designers and high-street brands have branched out into face masks, so you can now buy a printed Rixo or O Pioneers mask to match your midi dresses. Gap and Mango have plenty of reusable face masks, in gingham, polka-dot and animal prints. While if you want to support smaller British designers or independent brands during this time, the British Fashion Council has teamed up with Bags of Ethi...

18 Hidden Gems We Found In The Matches Fashion Sale

There are certain brands that catch on like wildfire thanks to Instagram and its best dressed It girls. When you have scores of women around the world wearing the same cool pieces, it’s only a matter of time before they sell out. But a trio of my favorite brands—Ganni, Staud, and By Far—is currently part of Matches Fashion’s major up-to-50%-off sale, and there’s plenty of stock to go around. Don’t think for a second that this is just a leftover selection because all the good stuff sold out. The pieces in this sale are incredibly chic, including printed summer dresses, cute hair scrunchies, on-trend swimsuits, insanely popular bags, practical flats, and more. Oh, and there’s also a dress Meghan Markle memorably wore on her visit to South Afr...

20 Face Masks to Buy Based on Your Personal Style

Personal style cannot be categorised in just five small descriptors, but for the digestibility of this story, that’s exactly what I did. Think of this as one of those articles you used to read in teen magazines that told you which celebrity crush you’re most likely to marry or which trend you should buy according to your zodiac sign—except this time, the category is face masks. Face masks have become a new staple and requirement worldwide. Naturally, the fashion industry has risen to the occasion, and already the stylish options provided to us by brands and designers alike feel endless.  There are countless options out there, so we don’t blame you if you’re not sure of where to start. While I know you can’t put your style type int...

7 Designers on Their Favourite Summer Trends

While the current weather in London might not be any indication, summer has certainly arrived. It’s the season of maxi dresses, shorts suits and swimwear, and although we know this summer is set to look a little different, we’re still finding ourselves preoccupied with seasonal trends.  With this in mind, we decided to consult a few experts in an effort to find out exactly which summer trends womenswear designers are championing this season. We asked seven designers—including Anine Bing, Henrietta Rix of Rixo, Sarah Staudinger of Staud and more—about their top three summer trends, and as you can imagine, each answer was unique, much like brands they’ve created.    While we did receive varied answers from each individual, a...

10 Influencer-Approved Skirts That Might Make You Rethink Your Love of Dresses

While some may say summer is the season of the dress, I personally define myself as a skirt enthusiast. Endlessly versatile, skirts are an item that can be elevated enough for just about any occasion and also dressed down for more casual affairs. As an example, the checked slip skirt I wore to a wedding alongside a slinky silk cami last year is now the same skirt I wear to picnics on weekends alongside a plain white tee and Stan Smith sneakers.  To further prove my point that skirts are in fact, an unsung wardrobe hero, I’ve taken the liberty of tracking down a few summery iterations that come with influencer-approval. From buzzy brands like Ganni, Sir and Musier Paris to high-street favourites like H&M and ASOS, this season we’ve seen a plethora of chic skir...

Seamstresses From Dior and Chanel Launch Tissuni, a Network For Open-Source Design Patterns

Tissuni, which is a French portmanteau for “united fabric,” is a collective of seamstresses from elite fashion houses like Chanel, Dior, and Saint Laurent that is committed to reducing fashion’s waste problem. Founded in March by Chanel seamstress Marie Beatrice Boyer, the movement began by supplying over 3,000 free face masks to essential workers in France. Now, Tissuni is experimenting with open-source design patterns. Boyer was inspired to launch Tissuni in the early days of lockdown in response to global shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE). French hospitals were in desperate need of cloth face coverings in an attempt to preserve critically low supplies of surgical face masks. Since launching Tissuni, the collective has expanded to over 100 members from re...

As far as high-street labels go, there are few brands that have as many fashionable fans as Arket. Relied upon for classic styles and minimalist staples, the brand’s offering feels extremely elevated which is likely why so many influencers and editors turn to Arket for affordable closet essentials.  Recently we’ve been keeping a running tally of all the chic Arket staples the style set has been loving and from maxi dresses to sleeveless shirts, there are more than a few pieces on the brand’s website that have been given the influencer tick-of-approval.  Alexis Foreman is an advocate of the brand’s Cotton Voile Slip Dress, while Marisa Martins owns a few Arket button-down shirts, not to mention several different influencers have been seen sporting the brand...
