The Batman Sequel Confirmed with Robert Pattinson Returning

A sequel to The Batman is in the works, with Robert Pattinson and director Matt Reeves both returning. Warner Bros. confirmed the sequel during its presentation at CinemaCon on Tuesday. As he did the first time around, Reeves will write and direct the film. Released in March 2022, The Batman rebooted the franchise with a dark, gritty adaptation that drew inspiration from comics such as Year One and The Long Halloween — as well as Nirvana. Though clocking in at nearly three hours, the film was a critical and commercial success. Consequence’s Sr. Entertainment Editor, Liz Shannon Miller, declared it “one of the better Batman movies ever made.” At the global box office, the film has grossed more than $750 million to date. Composer Ramin Djawadi on Uncharted and Jamming With The National in Westeros

Ramin Djawadi, the Emmy-winning composer behind the scores for Iron Man, Pacific Rim, and Game of Thrones, isn’t sure that he has a signature sound to his works for film, TV, video games, and more. “I don’t know if I can analyze myself and say, oh, I sound like Ramin,” he tells Consequence. “I can definitely think of other composers when I hear their music, but I’m not sure if I can say it about myself. I don’t know. I think it’s up to others to decide if I have that or not.” While he might not be able to hear what makes it distinctive, Djawadi has nonetheless become quite in demand. His latest film, the Tom Holland-starring adaptation of Uncharted, is now available for rental, and on the horizon this year are two massive TV projects: Djawadi will be returning not just to compose the music...

Howard Stern Calls Out “Huge Narcissist” Johnny Depp for “Overacting” in Amber Heard Trial

Howard Stern has taken shots at Johnny Depp for the actor’s witness testimony in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, calling Depp “a huge narcissist” and criticizing his “overacting.” While discussing the trial on Monday’s episode of The Howard Stern Show (via Mediaite), Stern claimed Depp wanted it televised because “that’s what narcissists do. They think they can talk their way out of anything.” He added, “I think Johnny Depp is a huge narcissist and what I mean by that is — he figured, ‘I’ll put this on TV and because I’m so persuasive and because I’m so smart, I’m such a wonderful guy.’” Advertisement Related Video “I’ll play you some clips from the Johnny Depp trial. If he isn’t acting — I mean, he’s so overacting,” Stern continued while critiquing Depp’s meth...

Police Bodycam Footage Captures Alec Baldwin in Aftermath of Halyna Hutchins Shooting

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department has released police bodycam footage of the moments following the shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust. On October 21st, during rehearsals at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in New Mexico, a gun that had been inexplicably loaded with live ammunition went off. The film’s star and co-producer, Alec Baldwin, was holding the gun, though he has claimed that he did not pull the trigger. The bullet penetrated through Hutchins’ torso and buried in the shoulder of the film’s director, Joel Souza. Hutchins died after being airlifted to an Albuquerque hospital. Search warrants later revealed that the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, loaded the Colt .45 believing a real bullet was a dummy round. She then handed the weapon to first assista...

John Carpenter Announces Firestarter Soundtrack, Shares “End Titles”: Stream

John Carpenter has revealed his soundtrack for the upcoming Stephen King adaptation Firestarter will release digitally on May 13th, the same day the movie arrives in theaters and streaming via Peacock. Along with the album announcement comes its first preview in the closer “Firestarter (End Titles).” Carpenter composed the score with his close collaborators, son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies. Though it stands as their first film accompaniment outside of Carpenter’s Halloween series — which has included the 2018 Halloween revival and 2021’s Halloween Kills — the trio has a long history of working together on projects like the ongoing Lost Themes albums. The musical motifs hinted at in the film’s first trailer suggested a more supernatural tone for the team that fits with the pyroc...

Why Bill Nighy Was Chosen to Succeed David Bowie For Showtime’s The Man Who Fell to Earth

The new Showtime series The Man Who Fell to Earth isn’t a remake — it continues the story of the cult classic Nicholas Roeg film, which starred David Bowie as Thomas Jerome Newton, a mysterious alien whose arrival on our planet ends in tragedy. So while the show starts decades after the film, with the arrival of a new titular man who’s fallen to Earth (Chiwetel Ejiofor), the original man is still there, albeit with a new face in veteran stage and screen actor Bill Nighy, beloved from roles in Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Shaun of the Dead. Despite Bowie no longer being alive, there was never a question of continuing the story without the presence of Thomas Jerome Newton, according to co-creator Jenny Lumet. “He’s important — the first alien and the second alien that was alw...

Block-Shaped Man Jason Momoa to Star in Minecraft Movie

Warner Bros. are getting their casting squared away on the film adaptation of the blockbuster — and block buster — video game Minecraft. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Jason Momoa, a man who looks like he was carved out of stone, is in final negotiations to play the lead role. Plot details haven’t yet been unearthed. But Jared Hess, best known for helming Napoleon Dynamite, is set to direct. Production will come from Dune producer Mary Parent and Godzilla vs. Kong producer Roy Lee. Minecraft first became public in 2009 and received a full launch by Sweden’s Mojang Studios 2011. The massively popular game sets players in a blocky, algorithmically-generated world, mining resources to create earthworks, machines, and structures that range from th...
