Jack Harlow to Star in White Men Can’t Jump Reboot
Jack Harlow is set to star in a reboot of White Men Can’t Jump. According to Deadline, Harlow was cast after his first-ever screen audition. He’ll lead a vehicle directed by Calmatic (who’s perhaps best known for helming Lil Nas X’s video for “Old Town Road). Kenya Barris (Black-ish) and Doug Hall wrote the film’s script. The film is of course a remake of Ron Shelton’s famed 1992 film about two street basketball hustlers (played by Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes). In the remake, Harlow will step into the role played by Harrelson; a search for his co-star is still underway. Alan Ladd Jr., the legendary film executive who greenlit Star Wars and produced such films as Braveheart and Blade Runner, has died at the age of 84. Via Variety, his daughter Amanda Ladd-Jones confirmed the news in a Facebook post. “With the heaviest of hearts, we announce that on March 2, 2022, Alan Ladd, Jr. died peacefully at home surrounded by his family,” she wrote. “Words cannot express how deeply he will be missed. Bill Paxton’s Family Reaches $1 Million Settlement with Anesthesia Group in Wrongful Death Suit
Almost five years to the day since his 2017 death, an anesthesiologist medical group has agreed to pay the family of Bill Paxton $1 million as part of a partial settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit, Deadline reports. Attorneys for Dr. Moody Makar and General Anesthesia Specialists Partnership sought the approval of Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Steven Kleifield for the deal, saying it would “reasonably compensate plaintiffs and avoid exposing defendant to an expensive and time consuming litigation” despite denying liability in the matter. Dr. Makar was the anesthesiologist for the heart surgery Paxton underwent to replace a heart valve and repair aorta damage in February 2017.
