EA has announced a free-to-play mobile game dubbed The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth. The new RPG title will be developed by EA Capital Games, the studio behind Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, and according to the initial press release, will feature “immersive storytelling, turn-based combat, deep collection systems,” and a range of characters from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Microsoft first announced that it was making an Xbox game streaming stick, as well as a streaming app for smart TVs, last June. Although the company hasn’t offered any information on development progress, a new report suggests that both the streaming stick and app will be available to gamers sometime in 2023. The cloud-gaming streaming device, which can be plugged into a TV or monitor, will look like either “an Amazon Fire Stick or perhaps a small, Roku-like puck,” according to GamesBeat. The device will allow its user to access movies and TV shows, in addition to games via the company’s Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription service. A 24-carat gold-plated Nintendo Wii that was originally made for Queen Elizabeth II in 2009 is now up for auction, according to Kotaku. Dutch collector and Consolevariations owner Donny Fillerup is auctioning the famous device, which now-bankrupt developer THQ had intended to deliver to the Queen. However, the device never actually made it inside Buckingham Palace due to an “understandably strict” royal gifting policy, according to the listing. The studio held onto the golden Wii, which was created as a promotional component for the mini-game series Big Family Games, until its bankruptcy filing in 2013, when it was purchased by a private buyer. Pooling the feedback of the game’s 20 million players to date, developer 343 Industries has awarded gamers with a packed lineup of content updates, including the arrival of a 4-player co-op campaign. In addition to numerous bug fixes, season two introduced a slew of new modes. In King of the Hill, two teams of four players each compete to control a neutral zone on the map called the Hill. Games has now announced new DLC characters joining LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, featuring your favorite personalities from both season two of The Mandalorian and the animated series The Bad Batch. Fortnite is celebrating Star Wars Day — May the 4th — by unlocking franchise-inspired outfits, weapons, quests and more for a two-week event, Epic Games announced on Tuesday. Every non-Battle Pass Star Wars outfit that has been in the Item Shop will return for the limited-time celebration. Among those making a comeback are the Imperial Stormtrooper outfit, Kylo Ren, Zorii Bliss, Finn, Rey, Sith Trooper, Boba Fett, Fennec Shand and Krrsantan.
