With Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 officially underway, Epic Games revealed that it is removing one of its most famous gameplay features: building. In a new blog post, Epic Games confirmed that the building aspect will temporarily be replaced with an Overshield in addition to a player’s Shield and Health. “Building has been wiped out,” the developers wrote. “To help maintain cover, you now have an Overshield on top of your Shield and Health. The Overshield is your first line of defense: before your Shield and Health take a hit, it’s your Overshield that’ll crack. Epic Games has committed to donating all of its Fortnite proceeds for two weeks to humanitarian relief for individuals affected by the war in Ukraine. The donation will be split between the organizations Direct Relief, UN Children’s Fund, UN World Food Programme and the UN Refugee Agency. Between March 20 and April 3, proceeds from all Fortnite purchases will be distributed, including V-Buck packs, Fortnite Crew, gifted Battle Passes and cosmetic packs. Epic will also count retail store purchases of in-game cosmetics and V-Bucks cards. More than two years since the game was first announced at BlizzCon, Blizzard is finally launching the beta test for the long-awaited Overwatch 2. The developer announced over on Twitter that the sequel to the widely popular class-based shooter will finally be receiving a beta test on April 26. Players on PC who opt in for the test will be able to experience new 5v5 multiplayer battles over the weekend, with four new maps joining the roster along with a new Push game mode as well as updated character designs. With its latest update, players will be presented with additional quests from NPCs such as Diallos, Nepheli Loux, Kenneth Haight, and Gatekeeper Gostoc. Following the massive success of Elden Ring, which saw 12 million in global sales after just a month of release, FromSoftware is now hoping to expand on the franchise to more than just video games.
