CD Projekt Red Settles ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Botched Launch Lawsuit With $1.85 Million USD Payment

CD Projekt Red has now settled its lawsuit with investors over the botched launch of Cyberpunk 2077 with an agreement to pay them $1.85 million USD. The lawsuit was first filed following the release of the highly-anticipated title, which proved catastrophic for the Polish developer when most gamers on lower-spec PCs or last-gen consoles like the Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PlayStation 4 practically weren’t able to run the game at all. The class-action lawsuit itself claims that Cyberpunk 2077 was “virtually unplayable” at launch “due to an enormous number of bugs,” and sought damages from the developer. Video game giant Embracer Group is now looking to acquire tabletop gaming company Asmodee for upwards of $3 billion USD. According to a new report from Kotaku, the parent company of Darksiders publisher THQ Nordic, Metro Exodus publisher Deep Silver, and Borderlands developer Gearbox is in talks to purchase one of the largest board game companies in the world, responsible for massively popular titles such as Catan, Pandemic, 7 Wonders and Ticket to Ride. 2021 is coming to an end, and to celebrate the games that accompanied us through this COVID-stricken year, Steam-tracking site SteamDB has published a list of the top-ranked titles on the digital storefront as rated by users. A few familiar names and recent hits top out the first 10 spots, with Totally Accurate Battle Simulator taking the first spot, followed by Dyson Sphere Program and later PowerWash Simulator. Interestingly enough, the top 10 doesn’t feature many AAA titles, and the Game Awards 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two only came in at 19th place despite its award show success. After running for more than a decade, Heroes of Newerth is finally shutting down. Originally launched back in 2010, the DOTA-derived MOBA gained immense popularity following a shift to a free-to-play model in July that year, at one point peaking at 150,000 concurrent players during May of 2013. Unfortunately, as the years went by, more and more fans of the genre shifted over to DOTA 2 or League of Legends, and has left HoN to slowly wither away after 12 years.
