In partnership with the animation studio, STUDIO 4°C, Google has launched Doodle Champion Island Games, following a “(c)athlete” named Lucky who explores an island with seven Olympic sport-inspired mini-games and side quests. The ultimate goal is to defeat each legendary sports champion opponent to collect all seven sacred scrolls. The 16-bit world is navigated entirely on the arrow keys and spacebar and is reminiscent of early Game Boy titles. In the beginning, you will be prompted to choose between four teams: blue, red, green, or yellow, represented by the mystical creatures Ushi (a cow), Karasu (a crow), Inari (a fox), or Kappa (a turtle) respectively. The compiled score of the teams is displayed on a leaderboard, with the red team currently holding a significant lead. The seven sports...

English Football Hall of Famer Alex Scott is joining FIFA 22 as the franchise’s first English-speaking female commentator. According to reports, the former Arsenal star will be a goal commentator and will “essentially report on goals from other games during the course of a FIFA 22 match.” Scott called the opportunity “game-changing,” stating in a press release, “Representation is crucial and the inclusion of an English-speaking female commentator on FIFA is game-changing. The impact it will have is simply stratospheric. It’s a big moment for me personally and professionally.” “It’s an honour to be part of the FIFA gaming institution, alongside some of my brilliant presenting colleagues. Whilst I am the first English-speaking female broadcaster to feature in FIFA, I will certainly not be th...
Panic has finally announced the pre-order date for its long-awaited Playdate, scheduled for the end of July. Dropping alongside the tiny handheld console with a crank is a purple protective cover which you can either pre-order individually for $29 USD or purchase as a bundle with the Playdate itself for $199 USD. There’s also a Playdate Stereo Dock that can charge your device while playing music through its Bluetooth speaker, but the project is still in development so a pre-order date for that will have to come later. As for numbers, Panic says that the first batch of shipments will cover roughly 20,000 units of the Playdate and should start shipping out by the end of this year. The team insists that the device will never actually sell out: instead they’ll keep manufacturing them as long a...
Unfortunately for many of us who grew up in the ’90s, it’d be difficult to visit the only remaining Blockbuster left in the world, but luckily RareBird Games is now coming out with a PlayStation VR title that’ll let us relive those nostalgic visits. Titled The Last Video Store, the studio behind Sinfield Remastered has rebuilt a Blockbuster store within virtual reality for you to explore, wandering through row after row of VHS tapes and DVDs. There’ll be a survival mode where players will have to work different jobs in order to make money to pay bills and fuel their own movie obsession, and you’ll also be able to drive around the neighborhood at night or even watch the films you’ve rented, although it’s unclear at this point how the licensing will work and whether the movies it i...
“Female employees almost universally confirmed that working for defendants was akin to working in a frat house,” says the filing. “In the office, women are subjected to ‘cube crawls’, in which male employees drink copious amounts of alcohol as they ‘crawl’ their way through various cubicles in the office and often engage in inappropriate behavior toward female employees.” It added that “Female employees are subjected to constant sexual harassment” and that ”High-ranking executives and creators engaged in blatant sexual harassment without repercussions.” The authorities also cited one occasion where a female employee had committed suicide after being subjected to a sexual relationship with her male supervisor and having intimate photos of her passed around during a company party. In re...
