In celebration of EVO over the weekend, Capcom has dropped a new trailer showcasing the gameplay for two characters coming to Street Fighter 6: the brand new Kimberly and the returning Juri. Kimberly will be making her debut in the Street Fighter universe with the latest game, and the developer describes her as a “spunky new ninja” who “utilizes traditional ninja techniques with an urban twist complete with spray cans and her trusty portable cassette player.” Most notably, she’ll be the very first African-American female character to join the massively popular fighting game franchise, bringing a much welcome breath of fresh air to a series that is now 35 years old. As for Juri, the beloved character made her debut in Street Fighter IV and will now be returning once again, but thi...
After announcing the game’s release date back in April, there hasn’t been much more information about the highly anticipated Splatoon 3, but luckily for fans of the franchise, Nintendo has now announced that its next Direct livestream will be dedicated to a deep dive into the title. Scheduled for August 10, 9:00 a.m. EDT, the gaming giant will be showcasing 30 minutes of Splatoon 3, offering a closer look at some of its new weapons, characters, game modes, and its single-player campaign, which until now has been kept largely under wraps. So far, we know that the game will feature a brand new hub space called Splatsville, and the core of the plot will revolve around the “Return of the Mammalians,” which hints at the introduction of a whole new species you’ll encounter. Of course, the f...
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has shared a brief update about the ongoing development of Rockstar Games‘ highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. According to reports, Zelnick revealed in a recent financial call that sales of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 continue to remain at a high number as Rockstar Games work on GTA VI. “With development of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series well underway, the Rockstar Games team is determined once again to set creative benchmarks for the series, our industry, and for all entertainment — just as the label has done with every one of their frontline releases,” he said on the call. Although there is barely any confirmed information about GTA VI as of writing, rumors regarding the upcoming game have been abundant. In 202...
While 1997’s GoldenEye 007 is an iconic game in its own right, modders have now managed to turn the Nintendo 64 title into a full game for another equally classic James Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me. In an hour-long clip featured above, YouTube user Graslu00 plays through 11 levels of the new mod, which spans across all the locations of the film including the legendary ski chase scene in the Alps, the rooftop fight in Egypt, and the Liparus supertanker in the Atlantic Ocean. Of course, it also adds Roger Moore’s likeliness to the main character alongside Barbara Bach’s Anya Amasova and Curt Jürgens’ Karl Stromberg so you can fully immerse yourself into the retro game. It’ll even run on 4K at 60 frames per second via an emulator, although diehard fans will be able to play it on ...
With its October release date soon approaching, Activision and Infinity Ward have finally announced the open beta dates for the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Taking place over two weekends in September, gamers will be able to access the title earlier and for longer if they’re on the PlayStation platform, which doesn’t come as a surprise given the publisher’s previous deals with Sony Interactive Entertainment. For both PS4 and PS5 users who have pre-ordered the game already or received a special beta code, you’ll be able to try out the game from September 16 to September 20. All other PlayStation players will be able to join in on the open beta experience from September 18 onwards. The second weekend then comes on September 22 through September 26, and this time r...
Nvidia has released its preliminary results for Q2, which demonstrate a drastic decrease in gaming revenue. The company reported that its gaming revenue wound up at $2.04 billion USD, compared to $3.06 billion USD last year. Although the official earnings won’t be shared for another two weeks, the drop reported in the preliminary results marks a 33% decrease in revenue amid an industry-wide trend of fewer consumers buying gaming hardware. Some companies are reporting that their hardware sales are down, possibly due to most people having bought new equipment over the pandemic during last year’s lockdown and quarantine measures. “NVIDIA has excellent products and positions driving large and growing markets. As we navigate these challenges, we remain focused on the once-in-a-generation opport...
Riot Games has now confirmed that its upcoming League of Legends 2D fighting game codenamed Project L will be completely free-to-play. Announcing the news in a new developer’s update featured above, the video game studio says that you’ll be able to access Project L without any monetary barriers at all, although much like Riot’s other titles, there will be optional microtransactions for you to unlock even more content within the title. The studio’s senior director and executive producer Tom Cannon reassured fans that “When it comes to monetization, we promise to be respectful of both your time and your wallet.” On top of confirming the free-to-play nature of Project L, the latest development update also introduced Illaoi, the latest champion to join the game. New leaks for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI are now giving fans an idea of just how large the new game’s map will be. According to GTA leaker Matheusvictorbr, Rockstar‘s new title will feature a playable map size as massive as the one found in its other sibling title Red Dead Redemption 2 and even come with a standalone, second map just like Guarma which will bring players into the Caribbean. As for the main map, other rumors are pointing heavily at another Miami-inspired setting, meaning we’ll likely revisit Vice City more than two decades after its debut in 2002. Of course, all these are just rumors for now and Rockstar Games has yet to announce anything officially itself. With the game still estimated to be a few years away from release, it’s unlikely the develope...
FIFA Mobile has a new mode for users that would rather work from the sideline than play out on the field. EA has launched Manager Mode, allowing users to experience what it’s like to oversee the team, from creating a strategic plan to making real-time adjustments on the field. A trailer for the mode showcases how managers can choose to tactfully employ their players in an “attack” or can consciously make the decision when it’s time to “counter” the other team’s advances. “There are 4 preset Tactics: Attacking, Control, Counter, and Defensive,” EA said. “Once you start adjusting the details within a Preset Tactic, you’re now creating a Custom Tactic. Choosing your Tactics depends on your team’s strengths and weaknesses, your opponent, and the game situation.” Manager Mode also allows users ...
