Activision Blizzard has canceled its World of Warcraft mobile game, Bloomberg reported. The project had reportedly been in development for three years but was ultimately shelved due to a dispute regarding financing between Blizzard and its Chinese publishing partner, NetEase. “The two companies disagreed over terms and ultimately called a halt to the project, which had been kept under wraps,” a source close to the deal told Bloomberg. The game was reportedly codenamed “Neptune” and was intended to be a Warcraft spinoff, taking place during a different time period than the main title. NetEase has worked with Blizzard for over a decade, and also publishes the popular mobile title Diablo Immortal. While the relationship between Blizzard and NetEase moving forward is unclear, Warcraft fans can...

As cloud gaming continues to rise in popularity, Logitech has unveiled that it has inked a partnership with gaming giant Tencent to build a handheld cloud gaming device. The mutually-beneficial deal will converge Logitech’s hardware expertise with Tencent’s background in software development. The two companies will also be collaborating with the Xbox Cloud Gaming and NVIDIA GeForce NOW teams, focusing on making AAA games, meaning high-profile and big budget titles, available for play even when users are away from their console or PC. For those unfamiliar, cloud gaming runs on remote servers, streaming the game straight to a user’s device without them having to download it or buy a hard copy. It can be expected that the device will be compatible with Xbox and GeForce Now titles. The latter ...
Netflix has partnered with interactive games company Immersive Gamebox to develop a real-life experience of Squid Game. Fans will have the chance to try their hand at in-person games seen on the series including Red Light, Green Light, Glass Bridge and of course, Squid Game itself. Hoping to push through with its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft is now trying to please antitrust regulators by saying that the massive video game developer and publisher has no “must have” games. According to new reports, Xbox‘s parent company made a filing with New Zealand’s Commerce Commission stating that the company doesn’t produce any titles that Microsoft finds particularly attractive or necessary. “There is nothing unique about the video games developed and published by Activision Blizzard that is a ‘must have’ for rival PC and console video game distributors that give rise to a foreclosure concern,” the filing wrote. On the flip side, it’s hardly likely that a studio with no “must have” games would justify a $68.7 billion USD buyout price, as Sony points out. In anot...
The chances of purchasing a PlayStation 5 could be higher by the end of 2022 as Sony revealed that stock for the console could be higher. According to reports, CFO Hiroki Totoki said during a recent conference call that an “improvement in component supply” could increase the amount of PS5 stock during the last months of this year. ComicBook adds, however, that since the increase may happen around the holidays, demand for the console will be higher than the rest of the year as more people would like to buy or receive the PS5 as a gift. Ever since its release, players have had a difficult time purchasing the console and have had to either buy a PS5 at a much higher price from a reseller or try their luck in raffles and limited restocks. The global shortage of semi-conductors has evidently pr...
SEGA fans outside of Japan will be disappointed to learn that there’s extremely limited stock for the long-awaited Genesis Mini 2 if you’re not in the region. According to Polygon, the Japanese gaming company has now confirmed that the number of consoles available for those outside of the country will be “one-tenth” the amount of SEGA Genesis Minis sold back in 2019 due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage. The company said it considered making the Genesis Mini 2 a Japan exclusive but ultimately decided against this thanks to Amazon Japan’s system that’ll allow shipment to the United States and Europe. That said, with the retro console starting at $104 USD on the website, the total cost of importing it will be more than $120 USD due to a shipping fee of $22 USD. Of course, it ...
Gran Turismo 7 is one of the finest automotive games available to play right now, and now it has announced a collaboration with Kim Jones‘ Dior that brings a certain fashion-forward je ne sais quoi to the video game. By combining the house signatures with traditional racing motifs, Dior presents a new skin that sees the playable driver decked in a yellow and gray overall that’s paired with driving gloves, a set of race-inspired Diorizon sneakers, and a helmet finished in a blue and gray colorway. The overalls are kitted out with the Dior oblique on the top chest panel, while Christian Dior Atelier and the “CD” logo come in the form of sponsor-esque patches on the same panel. Complementing this is Dior’s moniker on the neck strap and across the chest, as well as further branding on the stra...
