The third child of Tom Hanks has long been a powerful argument against his father’s perfection. From his days rapping under the name Chet Haze, to his insistence that he was allowed to use the N-word, through his odd appearance at the Golden Globes last year when he spent the whole evening talking in a fake Jamaican accent, the man now calling himself Hanx has always been an agent of chaos. Hanx’s newest venture kicked off two weeks ago, when he shared a baffling video on Instagr...

Cardi B Calls Out ‘Blue Check Republicans’ on Silence Over Shooting of Daunte Wright, Pepper-Spraying of Veteran

The officers ordered Nazario — who was in uniform and who had driven to a gas station in order to be in a well-lit location — to exit the vehicle as he held his hands up outside the window, asking them why he was being stopped; he said he was afraid to get out and was then hit with pepper spray in the eyes and forced to lay on the ground. In the video, Cardi — dressed in a fuzzy, white bathrobe — continued, “…Over some f—ing license plate that these mother—-ers couldn’t see — temporary license plate. We have seen a young man get killed by a cop, unarmed, and the excuse was the cop that had been on duty for 20-plus years, mistaked a gun for a taser,” she added, in reference to the police killing of 20-year-old Daunte Wright o...

Snoop Dogg Honors DMX’s Higher Purpose: ‘His Soul Will Live On & His Music Will Live On’

Snoop also acknowledged X’s greater calling via Instagram on Monday when he shared a message that read, “DMX did NOT wait to be perfect for God to USE him. He taught people that u can be flawed and still be a vessel.” But he added in his new interview that Darkman’s messages translated best through genres of music outside of rap. “He was funny. He loved old-school music. He loved old-school cars. And when I say he loved old-school music, he loved old-school music and gospel music, probably more than rap music. And that’s what people didn’t know,” he said. “But if you listen to him talk and you listen to what he testify and what he’s always giving up, it’s either that R&B or the gospel music that always pushed the message behind DMX.&#...

DMX’s 2003 Autobiography Returns to Bestsellers List After Rapper’s Death

Written by DMX alongside Smokey D. Fontaine, a former music editor at The Source, the book follows “The dark journey of a boy who became a man, the man who became an artist, and the artist who became an icon,” according to the publisher’s notes. “A talent for rhyme saved his life, but the demons and sins of his past continue to haunt him.” The book’s prologue opens with a quote from Friedrich Nietzsche, that now seems eerily foreboding: “To live is to suffer, but to survive is to find meaning in the suffering.” The accompanying chapters chronicle the rapper’s rise to fame, from his early days growing up in Yonkers, New York, to his record deal with Def Jam and creation of his first major label album, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot...
