Billie Eilish Performs “Happier Than Ever” on Kimmel: Watch

Billie Eilish stopped by Wednesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, both as an interview guest and to perform “Happier Than Ever,” the title track to her new album. For her musical showcase, Eilish and brother FINNEAS set up shop on the rooftop of the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. During the first movement of the track, Eilish walked in front of the iconic hotel sign, and as the camera moved with the pop star, FINNEAS slowly entered frame. The camera angles switched 90 degrees for the more violent second movement, as white lights flashed across the rooftop. The pop sensation also sat down with the late night host for an interview. Kimmel produced a bucket list Eilish had made when she was 12, which included things she had done (meet Justin Bieber) and things she had not (get kicke...

Metallica Perform Two Songs, Read 1-Star Reviews of “The Black Album” on Kimmel: Watch

Metallica appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday night (September 10th) to promote the releases of The Metallica Blacklist covers compilation and the deluxe 30th anniversary box set edition of “The Black Album.” The band performed two songs, sat down with the late-night host for an interview, and participated in a funny skit in which they read 1-star Amazon reviews of the classic 1991 album. Much like Kimmel’s “Mean Tweets” segment, Metallica were subjected to some scathing commentary as the band members each took turns reading the 1-star Amazon reviews. Lars Ulrich began with one that read, “The Black Album? I call it ‘The Shitty Album!’ This is by far one of the most loathsome crimes every committed against music.” James Hetfield read one that insisted, “This album sucks, sad but true! ...

Yola Belts Out “Diamond Studded Shoes” on Kimmel: Watch

Yola has one of the best voices in modern country right now, in part because of the undeniable soul she brings to the genre. Last night, she got to reintroduce her show-stopping voice on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with a rousing rendition of “Diamond Studded Shoes.” Watch a replay of her performance below. For the occasion, Yola broke out the Stand For Myself track in a cozy room back home in Nashville, Tennessee. What starts out with the warm vibe of a local band at a bar quickly turns into a powerhouse country-pop song worth dancing along to. Yola shows off her voice with subdued verses and effortless trills, but it’s her massive belted notes towards the end that steal the show. All told, it’s a goosebump-raising live version of “Diamond Studded Shoes” that further drives home the song’s an...

Lucy Dacus Channels Classic Films With “Brando” Performance on Kimmel: Watch

Lucy Dacus’ third album, Home Video, is out this Friday, and the singer-songwriter celebrated release week with a remote musical guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Performing her latest single “Brando” from the Virginia Repertory Theatre, Dacus aptly brought an old Hollywood style to complement the track’s classic film references. Complete with sequined dresses, bowties, and a dance routine that would make Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers proud, Dacus’ performance of “Brando” begins with a black-and-white filter that bursts into color just in time for the song’s climax. With the vintage setting of the theatre as their backdrop, Dacus, her band, and her dancers feel like they’re lifted straight from a 1940s film. Watch the clip below. “Brando” is the fourth and final preview we get o...

The Linda Lindas Play ‘Racist, Sexist Boy,’ Talk Band Name Origins on Kimmel

Remember those young punk rockers we all saw jamming out to their single “Racist, Sexist Boy” in the L.A. Public Library a couple weeks ago? Well, now they’ve been on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The Linda Lindas — Mila (10), Eloise (13), Lucia (14) and Bela (16) — made their national television debut on June 3 to perform their recent viral hit and detail the origins of their band name. Eloise, the group’s singer-bassist, explained that “there’s a Japanese indie film called Linda, Linda, Linda, and in it there are high school girls who cover the song ‘Linda Linda’ by The Blue Hearts, so we’re kind of named after both of those.” “However, none of us are named Linda,” added guitarist Lucia. Kimmel asked about the backstory of “Racist, Sexist Boy,” which landed The Linda Lindas a de...

Emma Stone Perfectly Recites Steve Martin’s Classic Planes, Trains and Automobiles Rant on Kimmel: Watch

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-28T15:14:09+00:00“>May 28, 2021 | 11:14am ET While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night, Emma Stone showed off her comedic chops by reciting Steve Martin’s profanity-laced tirade from Planes, Trains and Automobiles. After the Cruella star explained to Kimmel that she used to watch the 1987 John Hughes movie on repeat while growing up, Stone proved it by nailing the iconic rant from the film. During the scene, Martin’s Neal Page says variations of “fuck” 18 times while going off on a Marathon Car Rental agent (played by Edie McClurg), who gets the final word by matter-of-factly stating Page is “fucked.” The speech is the sole reason why the otherwise tame Planes, Trai...

Madness Transform Kimmel into “Our House”: Watch

<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-12T16:33:41+00:00“>May 12, 2021 | 12:33pm ET Time is a walking bass line, and despite some funky digressions along the way, we always seem to wind up back where we started. Perhaps that’s why a certain brand of pre-reggae Jamaican jamming keeps getting re-interpreted for different eras, and why the two-tone legends Madness are once again skascendent. The UK outfit is gearing up for a 2022 tour, and which they’ll preview with a new livestream, “The Get Up”, on May 14th. This busyness is to expected, because, as they demonstrated on Kimmel last night, during the skanaissance, every house is “Our House”. “Our House” came out on the 1982 album The Rise & Fall, ...

Flaming Lips Return to First Club They Ever Played for Kimmel Performance

On Monday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance, the Flaming Lips revisited their past. The group’s set on the late-night show saw them perform at Oklahoma City’s Blue Note Lounge, which happened to be the first club they ever played at. Wayne Coyne and company — along with special guest Micah Nelson, youngest son of Willie — performed “Will You Return / When You Come Down” from last year’s American Head on Jimmy Kimmel Live. According to the venue’s Facebook page, the Blue Note is categorized as a “dive bar,” and “first opened in 1961, for travelers on Historic Route 66.” Check The Flaming Lips from the Blue Note Lounge below. Brittany Howard Performs “Short and Sweet” on Kimmel While Michelle Obama Looks On: Watch

On Tuesday night, Brittany Howard stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform “Short and Sweet” with her trademark show-stopping skills. However, unlike most musical guests on the show, she had the added pressure of singing in front of the former First Lady Michelle Obama, who was coincidentally a guest on the same episode. Unsurprisingly, Howard is a bonafide show-stopper and she delivered her rendition of the song flawlessly. Watch a replay her performance below. Howard’s late-night performance arrived on the heels of her whirlwind evening at the Grammy Awards this past weekend. She received a total of five nominations, including Best Alternative Music Album for her remarkable album Jaime, and ultimately took home a statue for Best Rock Song thanks to “Stay High”. She also sang the hell out...
