Man sentenced to death by hanging for murder

File Photo An Osun State High Court sitting in Ile Ife has sentenced a 37-years old man, Oluleke Ogunyemi to death by hanging for alleged murder. Ogunyemi was said to have killed one Moshood Babalola on 17th of February 2010 at about 10am at a village called Agbedegbede in Ile Ife, Osun State. Ogunyemi was arraigned on 6th March, 2013 on two counts charge murder and conspiracy to murder an ofgence contrary to section 319 and 324 criminal Code Laws cap 34, Laws of Osun State. Ogunyemi was said to have killed Moshood Babalola by cutting off his head with knife and kept his lifeless body in the house at Iredunmi Area in Ile Ife. Journalist suspended for requesting salary on social media

A journalist with the Imo State government has been suspended indefinitely from her job for taking to Facebook to request her three months unpaid salary and the wages of her co-workers. Officials said the Facebook post was an “embarrassment” to the Imo State government. The suspended journalist, Vivian Ottih, is a lawyer and a senior editor with the government-owned IBC Orient FM radio station. She is the chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), in Imo State. Mrs Ottih, on May 4, posted a message on Facebook, appealing to Governor Hope Uzodinma’s media aide, Modestus Nwamkpa, to make a case to the governor on behalf of the workers in the government-owned radio and television stations who were yet to get their February, March, and April salaries. Nigeria drags Kase Lawal to court over $35 million debt

Nigeria has sued an oil exploration production company, ALLIED ENERGY PLC, owned by Texas-based billionaire Kase Luqmon Lawal to demand $35.7 million debt. The suit was filed at a Federal high Court in Lagos by the oil minister, which is President Muhammadu Buhari. The amount in question was for royalty on oil and gas production, concession rental and gas flaring penalty.
