I would also like to caveat here that not only is TikTok-recommended beauty not my thing, but neither is KVD Beauty as a brand. I like chic, luxe, svelte makeup, the sort that sparks the same kind of joy as a luxury handbag. KVD Beauty is none of that. It’s clearly aimed at a slightly younger audience and champions an almost gimmicky aesthetic. By day six, I felt confident enough to give a clean-girl beauty look my all. I combined all of the above tests and trials to execute what I think is a pretty good clean-girl look. Is it easy and low-maintenance? No. As you can tell, this took me six days to get right, with a lot of mistakes made along the way. And yes, while this looks wonderful for a quick snap or video, the truth is, the makeup has zero staying power. A dewy base really does require some sort of holding primer or setting spray (which does risk dulling the finish). There’s a deep, dark section of the internet (2009 Facebook albums) where you will see the highlights of my highlighting fails. The streaks across my cheeks could be used to light a landing strip for a red-eye flight from Heathrow– it was a very bright look.
