Drake’s New Album ‘Honestly Nevermind’ Drops At Midnight, Soft Rap Twitter In Shambles

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Cole Burston / Getty Apparently, Drake couldn’t let Beyonce get all the glory today. Apparently, the 6 God is also dropping a new album, but his will be landing at midnight tonight for a Friday, June 17 release. The Toronto rapper took to his Instagram to reveal the title, Honestly Nevermind, and the release date along with the album artwork. By Drake standards, the cover, some blinged out lettering, is kind of no frills. Drake’s last album, Certified Lover Boy, was released less than a year ago (9 months to be exact, coincidence?) in September 2021. Also worth noting, OVO Fest is making its return this year. Twitter is already saluting, or hating on, The Boy, so, the usual. This story is developing.  1. Coincidence?

BTS Accounts for Nearly 1/3 of All U.S. K-Pop Sales & Streams: Their Domination, By the Numbers

BTS members’ decision to take time off for solo projects is bound to shake up K-pop music consumption in the U.S. because of the group’s dominance in the genre. And the band’s label, Big Hit Music — a division of HYBE, which Universal Music Group’s Geffen Records has distributed in the U.S. since last year — will have a tough time filling the hole. Since the beginning of 2021, BTS has accounted for 29.4% of sales and on-demand streams of K-pop music in the U.S., according to a Billboard analysis of Luminate data. Over that time, BTS did not release a new studio album but put out two “best of” collections — BTS, the Best in June 2021 and Proof on June 10, 2022. BTS also released multiple variations of the tracks “Butter” (including a remix with Megan Thee Stallion), “My Universe” and “Permi...

Willie Nelson Joins His Son Micah for New Song “Die When I’m High (Halfway to Heaven)”: Listen

It took me a second to process, but I said, “Dad, that’s the best song title I ever heard. You better write the rest of it quick.” He said, “Why don’t you write it?” So I did. That night I wrote it for him, about him. It’s really just a love letter to him. A tribute. At the same time I realized it’s also a sort of “fuck you” to anyone who ever thought of me as some lost prodigal son who doesn’t understand him or respect his legacy just because I’ve never imitated his style or pandered to his audience. HE is the one who gave me my Particle Kid moniker after all. We are both freaks, in our time. I’m no prodigal son. I am HIS Particle Kid. I would never try to be him, or even pretend, because nobody will ever be him. But believe it or not I do relate to the Willie fans because I am one of the...
