Charlie Cox Says Disney+’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Won’t Be As “Gory” As Netflix’s Series

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Marvel Studios / Disney+ For many Marvel fans one of the things they loved most about Netflix’s Daredevil series (aside from Charlie Cox’s brilliant performance) was the action scenes and violent fades that the Man Without Fear would dish on his enemies. Unfortunately it seems that now the series is getting a new lease on life on Disney+, the excessive brutality that we’ve grown to love and appreciate will not be carrying over into Disney’s Daredevil: Born Again. In an interview with NME, the series star, Charlie Cox revealed that the rebooted series more than likely “won’t be as gory” as it’s predecessor. Confirming that the new series would begin shooting in February of 2023 and wrap up around the end of the year, Cox seemed convinced that the viol...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Penske Media / Getty / Pardison Fontaine In a world full of Tory Lanez, ladies, get yourself a Pardi. The rapper/songwriter broke his silence to defend his boo, Megan Thee Stallion, and other Black women experiencing trauma. Tory Lanez is the man on trial but based on terrible “reporting” from blogs and notable pundits like DJ Akademiks dropping unproven statements, Megan Thee Stallion is the one catching all the flack on social media. The trial that has captivated social media and brought all of these so-called Tory Lanez fans out of nowhere has ushered in a wave of misogynoir. Instead of focusing on Megan Thee Stallion being a victim of violence, as the facts have proven, the internet has scrutinized the 27-year-old Hip-Hop star for the number of men sh...

Ronky Tonk, Race & Radio: Country Music Looked to the Future With One Eye on the Past in 2022

From its very infancy, one of the attractions of country music has been its respect for the past. Many of the genre’s early pioneers, including Jimmie Rodgers and The Carter Family, made their mark by leaning on so-called “old-fashioned songs,” nostalgic material drawn from a simpler time, before the mass migration to the city, before the Model T destroyed the horse and buggy, and before racy, decadent jazz had reached its peak. Of course, music is an art, and artists tend to experiment, so the ongoing major battle in country music is the push and pull between expanding boundaries and hanging on to tradition. Appropriately in 2022 — which happened to mark the 100th anniversary of the first country recording session — that tug of war between progress and tradition was very much evident...

††† (Crosses) — the duo featuring Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno and producer/multi-instrumentalist Shaun Lopez — have released a cover of ’80s pop singer George Michael’s “One More Try,” coupled with an animated visualizer. The George Michael tune is part of the duo’s annual tradition of releasing a cover around the holidays. It began in 2020, when they unveiled a surprise cover of “The Beginning of the End” by Cause & Effect on Christmas Eve. They followed that up in 2021 with a cover of “Goodbye Horses” by Q Lazzarus. “One More Try” originally appeared on George Michael’s 1987 debut solo album, Faith. Fans will, however, have YoungBoy’s fifth studio album to look forward to. He recently teased that the LP, titled I Rest My Case, will arrive in January. In the meantime, the rapper will be host...

The emerging producer first entered the world of music and DJing at the age of 12, and...
