Coachella co-founder Paul Tollett recently spoke to the Los Angeles Times about the difficulties of replacing Kanye West after the rapper decided to drop out of the festival. Tollett spoke about Ye’s last minute decision to remove himself from the 2022 lineup and explained that while it caused a lot of moving parts to be set back at the time, he is still “good with Kanye.” He said, “I Zoomed with him a couple days prior and I think it was a good decision for him.” Tollett eventually replaced Ye with co-headliners The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia. The Weeknd has signed a long-term partnership deal with Universal Music Group that is expected to cover recording music, merchandise, video production and publishing. According to Variety, the deal further builds on The Weeknd’s relationship with the label, his home and music partner since 2012. In the statement, the UMG stated that the artist “will remain his label partner for future recorded music releases.” Universal Music Publishing will also be administering all of the Toronto crooner’s future works and songwriting catalogs in the future. Metric have announced their return with a new album, lead single, and massive North American tour. Entitled Formentera, the the Canadian band’s eighth studio album arrives on July 8th. Before its June 24th release via Warner, the prolific pop artist has shared another preview with a new single called “Up the Mountain.” “Up the Mountain” is a song that feels just as bold and daring as its name implies.
