Dino Danelli, a founding member of The Rascals and one of the foundational drummers of early rock and roll, is dead at the age of 78. His passing was announced in a Facebook post by friend and Rascals historian Joe Russo. Russo didn’t cite an exact cause of death, but noted, “His primary challenges were coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure, but there were many others.” Born in 1944 in Jersey City, New Jersey, Danelli co-founded the Young Rascals in 1965 with guitarist Gene Cornish, keyboardist and vocalist Felix Cavaliere, and singer Eddie Brigati. Together they scored a No. 1 hit with a cover of Rudy Clark and Arthur Resnick’s “Good Lovin’,” and they matched the feat with the original tune “Groovin’.” Advertisement Related Video In 1968 the band rechristened themselv...
There’s a certain reverence linked with Abbey Road Studios. It’s one of the most famous recording studios on the planet, and a household name, having welcomed such greats as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, John Williams, Oasis, and so many more. It’s also the namesake of The Beatles’ final — and arguably best — record. Its iconic album artwork, taken on the street opposite the studios, continues to inspire thousands of fans to make a pilgrimage to London themselves and recreate their own tribute. If These Walls Could Sing is the debut documentary feature by Mary McCartney, daughter of Paul McCartney, and it is her love letter to a recording space that her father still has such an intimate connection with, a place that she herself calls home. Featuring interviews with the musical greats who have c...

This week, Rosalía and Cardi B stave off winter blues with a reimagined version of MOTOMAMI+ cut “DESPECHÁ.” Good news, everyone: Rhe MOTOMAMI era doesn’t appear to be ending any time soon. Rosalía has recruited Cardi B for a new remix of “DESPECHÁ,” which was initially a cut off the expanded MOTOMAMI+ and has since become a lively, upbeat staple of the global pop artist’s live shows. This marks the first time the two chart-toppers have teamed up — in a recent interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Rosalía sh...
Spotify’s “Detty December” playlist is a one-way ticket to the weekend parties, family bashes and clubbing scene spread across West, East and South Africa. Detty December (a colloquialism of Dirty December) refers to a period of seasonal diaspora where the continent experiences an influx of cross-border travel between the months of December and early January, including the return of Black Americans to the continent. The moniker is inspired by and accredited to recording artist Mr Eazi’s annual Detty Rave festival, known for platforming the continent’s rising stars. During this time, nightlife curators debut a holiday-long lineup of concert and club performances fronted by artists who’ve put the Af...
Following March’s release of her sophomore studio album 777, Latto returned earlier this month with a club-ready Glorilla collaboration, “FTCU.” Just a few weeks later, the Atlanta rapper is continuing to keep things upbeat with a new single called “Another Nasty Song,” out via RCA Records. A music for the track opens with Latto at a photoshoot, posing for the camera. “‘Cause this here another nasty song,” she raps at the intro. 2022 has marked a momentous year for the Queen Of Da Souf artist. Alongside dropping 777, Latto rounds off the year with two GRAMMY nominations under her belt. The rapper is up for “Best New Artist,” as well as “Melodic Rap Performance” for a live performance of her hit single “Big Energy.” Listen to Latto’s new track “Another Nasty Song.” In other music news, Pink...

Juice Wrld’s estate has released another song from the late rapper. Out via Grade A and Interscope Records, the track hears Juice reflect on his struggles with anxiety and depression, a recurring topic throughout his discography. “I won’t, I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna implode,” he raps. “I won’t, I don’t wanna, it’s the end of the summer, it’s starting to get cold.” An accompanying music video directed and edited by Steve Cannon depicts a woman suffering from sleep paralysis as demons run rampant around her room. “Face 2 Face” is the second posthumous single from the rapper, following last month’s “In My Head.” Earlier this year, his estate shared the deluxe edition of Fighting Demons with features from Trippie Redd, Polo G and Justin Bieber. While the downfall of FTX and the Crypto Winter that saw NFT sales drop 90% dominated Web3 headlines this year, for many creators there was a bigger issue at play. Their royalties have been under attack, undermining a central promise of Web3 as a sustainable model for musicians. Creator royalties on NFTs ensure that artists get paid a cut of revenue every time their work is sold on a secondary market. As the music NFT market has matured since multi-million dollar sales attracted widespread attention, these royalties have been a central part of the Web3 proposition — presenting musicians with a possible alternative to the major label system and allowing them to generate meaningful revenue over the long term. Only now, that promise is being pulled from under them as several new NFT platforms...

Sam Asghari may not always agree with Britney Spears‘ choices, but you can count on him to defend her right to make them. After the 41-year-old pop star posted a string of mostly nude photos on Instagram Thursday (Dec. 15), attracting many concerned comments from her followers, Asghari has added his perspective to the ring. “The only person in the world that gets bullied for posting things like this,” the 28-year-old actor wrote in an Instagram comment, which he also reposted to his Stories on Friday (Dec. 16). “I personally preferred she never posted these but who am I to control someone that’s been under a microscope and been controlled for most of her life.” The photos in question appeared on Spears’ account a few hours before Asghari’s Story, and featured the “Toxic” singer staring str...
Stephen Sanchez is infatuated with love — but he’s not interested in approaching it from a 21st century lens. “I think it’s a lost art to tell somebody that you’d pull the moon down for them,” he tells Billboard. Growing up listening to ’50s and ’60s records on vinyl in Northern California, he has always been drawn to an old-school charm within his own music. The inspiration ultimately led to his breakthrough hit, “Until I Found You,” which became his first Billboard Hot 100 hit and has remained on the chart for months. Penned in May 2021, just six months after moving to Nashville, Sanchez felt there was something special about the heartfelt song straight away — and another six months after its release that September, it debuted on the all-genre songs chart at No. 100. Since, it has spent ...
House Of Pharaohs rapper, Sam Wise has returned with new music and he is more mature than ever before. Earlier this year, Hypebeast caught up with the London-based musician following his recent Billionaire Boys Club campaign, of which he was involved in the continuing press run from his critically-acclaimed project, Free Game. Now, the rhymer is back with another new E.P. in the form of None The Wiser — and he’s just dropped off some new visuals to go with it. For the six-track project, Wise taps into different yet refreshingly-new sonics, using trap drums, uplifting horns, and a melange of electronic piano chords that take us on retrospective and grateful journeys in records such as the E.P-opener “Guess Who’s Back” and “Thankful.” Furthermore, the new project is also a lot less collabora...
