After years of teasing a new Black Star album, it seems as though the record is slowly becoming a reality for fans. Talib Kweli took to Instagram to share a photo of him and Yasiin Bey, previously known as Mos Def, with a caption that read, “The new Black Star album was recorded in hotel rooms and dressing rooms across the globe. I love how my brother @yasiinbey pushes me musically. #blackstarforever follow @blackstarkeepshining today…” Although a release date was not announced, it is the first piece of information about the album that fans have received in almost a year. It is unsure of it is the same Black Star album produced by Madlib that was announced in 2018. Madlib confirmed the year after that the record was finished, but, in July 2020, Kweli stated that the album w...
[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers through the Season 2 finale of Euphoria, “All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name.”] Euphoria hive, this is a dark time. Today, we truly have no other choice but to put our eye gems away and ask ourselves — what was that?! The Euphoria Season 2 finale, which aired February 27th on HBO, finally brought this chaotic, discourse-filled era to a nearly disastrous close. The episode was a dumpster fire of pacing issues and lacked the signature style that makes the show fun to watch in the face of absurdity. It’s almost impressive that the hour managed to both be overstuffed and completely devoid of any cohesion at the same time. It was the epitome of, “Go girl, give us nothing.” Advertisement Related Video Since its return on Ja...

SKID ROW guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo has confirmed to The Music Universe that fans will still have to wait several months for the arrival of his band’s new album. The group recorded the LP in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who has previously worked with FOO FIGHTERS, STONE SOUR, HALESTORM, EVANESCENCE, RUSH and ALICE IN CHAINS, among many others. Asked if SKID ROW has a release date for the new effort, Snake said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It looks like, as it stands now, September 16th. But we’ll be coming out with new music, it looks like, around the second [or] third week of March.” Sabo also talked about the prospect of releasing a bunch of singles as opposed to focusing on full-length albums, as was the case for muc...
KROKUS singer Marc Storace says that he has no regrets about turning down a chance to audition for AC/DC more than four decades ago. The 70-year-old Maltese-born vocalist — whose band had opened for AC/DC in the past — passed on the opportunity to try out to replace the late Bon Scott in 1980. In February of that year, Scott died of acute alcohol poisoning after a night of heavy drinking at a club in London, just days after attending a session with Malcolm and Angus Young where they began working on music for what became the “Back In Black” album. “Back In Black” was the first album AC/DC released after singer Brian Johnson replaced Scott, and it went on to become the third-biggest-selling LP of all time. Asked in a new interview with Barbara Caserta of Italy’...
OVERKILL frontman Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth has confirmed to the Chicago Tribune that guitarist Dave Linsk will sit out the band’s March 2022 U.S. tour due to “personal reasons” and will be temporarily replaced by former MACHINE HEAD and current VIO-LENCE guitarist Phil Demmel. “We’ve used Phil in the past when we’ve had issues,” Bobby said. “We’re prepared. We’re ready. It’s not about the strength of the individual but about the strength of the unit. We found that out with Phil when he stepped in. “It’s just nice to be able to do what you do whether you’re the concertgoer or whether you’re the concert performer,” he added. “Let’s get back to normal. Let’s do what we ...

Drakeo The Ruler‘s brother Ralfy The Plug and several members of the Stinc Team collective filed a lawsuit against Live Nation over the “mob attack” that took place during the Once Upon a Time in LA music festival, which resulted in the rapper’s death and “severe physical and emotional harm.” According to Rolling Stone, the lawsuit states that the likes of Live Nation, C3 Presents, Bobby Dee Presents, Snoop Dogg’s LLC and more should be held liable because of their lax security protocols. “[C]aravans of multiple vehicles” were supposedly allowed to enter the backstage VIP area without getting evaluated while Drakeo the Ruler’s group was eventually targeted by an “ongoing mob attack that lasted up to 15 minutes” without security attempting to stop the commotion. Kanye West made major waves in the music world when he announced that DONDA 2 would be exclusively available on his Stem Player. Despite being met with praise by some in the music industry, many fans were unhappy that they would need to buy the $200 USD device to listen to Ye’s eleventh studio album and have been looking into alternatives. Shortly after the tracks “Pablo,” “Broken Road,” “Security” and “We Did It Kid” were uploaded to the Stem Player website, some tech-savvy fans made it possible for those without the device to listen to the songs through file sharing sites. It is important to note that what these fans are doing is pirating and it is unclear how Kanye West and his team intend to do about the issue. One Reddit user even shared a script that emulates the Stem Player so that ...
