Kanye West Says He Won’t Release Donda 2 on Streaming Services

For his upcoming album Donda 2, Kanye West says he will forgo traditional streaming platforms and release it exclusively via his own Stem Player. “Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player,” West wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday evening. “Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube. Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own.” A collaboration with Kano Computing, West originally released the Stem Player in August 2021. The pocket-size device allows users to remix pre-loaded recordings by manipulating various aspects of a track, including vocals, drums, bass, and samples. It currently retails for $200. John Williams to Write Theme for Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

Since announcing the return of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, Disney+ has scored another big name for its upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series. John Williams, the legendary composer behind Star Wars‘ award-winning scores, has written and recorded the theme song for the new series, Variety reports. Williams won an Oscar back in 1977 for his score for the original Star Wars, and was nominated for his work on both the rest of the original trilogy (The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) and the franchise’s last three films (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker.) The trio behind the 1994 blockbuster Forrest Gump — Tom Hanks, director Robert Zemeckis, and screenwriter Eric Roth — are teaming up again for a film adaptation of the graphic novel Here, Deadline reports. Centered in one room, Richard McGuire’s graphic novel follows the lives of several people who inhabit the space over an extended period of time. Lil Wayne is set to perform in the UK for the first time in 14 years as he headlines the 2022 Strawberries & Creem Festival.
