During the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show, Eminem took a knee during his performance of “Lose Yourself”—an apparent tribute to Colin Kaepernick. Amid rumors that the kneel was done in defiance of the NFL’s wishes, a spokesperson for the league has denied this was the case. Brian McCarthy told the New York Times said the NFL knew the moment would happen because officials “watched it during rehearsals this week.” Eminem was joined at tonight’s Halftime Show by Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg. 50 Cent made a cameo (while hanging upside-down), and Eminem’s performance featured the drumming talents of Anderson .Paak. Prior to kickoff, Mickey Guyton sang “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Jhené Aiko sang “America the Beautiful,” and Mary Mary did a rendition of “Lift Every Voice an...
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg paid homage to their late hip-hop brother Tupac during the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday (Feb. 13), and they didn’t do it by resurrecting the eerie hologram that was created for their 2012 headlining Coachella performance. Explore See latest videos, charts and news Early in the set, the two performed Tupac’s 1995 hit “California Love,” which features Dre. One of Tupac’s most widely known songs, the song was released as a double A-sided single along with the K-Ci & JoJ0-assisted “How Do U Want It,” both reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Later on, Dre briefly played Tupac’s “I Ain’t Mad At Cha” on the piano. The rumor of the possible Tupac hologram cameo for this year’s Super Bowl stemmed from an Access Hollywood interview with Sway Calloway,...
The Super Bowl 2022 halftime show was lesson in hip-hop mastery, as a star-packed concert led by Dr. Dre and joined by Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar took the stage. Midway through a match-up between the Los Angeles Rams and upstart Cincinnati Bengals at SoFi Stadium, Dr. Dre brought out a championship team of his own for the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Joining the G-funk pioneer on stage were some of his closest collaborators: Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, and surprise guests 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak. By the time the 15-minute performance came to an end, it easily ranked among the most thrilling halftime shows in history. Dr. Dre and his longtime creative partner, Snoop Dogg, kicked off the evening by performing “The Next Episode” and “California Love,” which doubled as a tribute to fellow West Coast hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur. 50 Cent’s surprise performance followed, as the one-time Dr. Dre protege waxed nostalgic...
Polish your sword and pack your own second breakfast, because the adventure finally begins in the teaser trailer for Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Prime Video’s highly-anticipated prequel series has been a long time coming. Amazon first announced it in 2017, and they’ve reportedly spent $465 million on the first season alone. Throw in the cost of the rights and the fact that they’ve already committed to a second season, and Rings of Power may be the first billion-dollar series. The Rings of Power is drawn from J.R.R. Tolkein’s The Silmarillion and set in Middle-earth’s Second Age, thousands of years before Bilbo or Frodo ever met that meddlesome wizard Gandalf. As anyone who’s read Tolkein or seen Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit t...
Larry David is known for his hard and cynical opinions on Curb Your Enthusiasm, and now he’s brought that cranky attitude to crypto in a new Super Bowl commercial for FTX. In the ad, David leans into his persona as the grumpy contrarian by shooting down revolutionary developments throughout history, from the wheel (“Eh, I don’t think so. This? Is a miss.”) to the toilet (“A toilet? We’re not animals, we go outside like humans!”) and the moon landing (“It’s far! It’s too far! It’s far!”). Dressed in colonial garb, David even tries to put the kibosh on democracy when he realizes the Founding Fathers intend to give everyone the right to vote. “Even the stupid ones?” he asks before throwing himself on top of the Declaration of Independence. So sure, David’s track record may not be great — he s...

DISTURBED frontman David Draiman, who is of Jewish descent, spoke to The Jerusalem Post Podcast about his decision to reactivate his Twitter account after a nearly seven-year absence. The 48-year-old Hawaii-based rocker, who recently announced plans to relocate to Miami, said of his return to the social media platform (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It’s difficult sometimes knowing how much animosity exists for not only our people but for the state of Israel and that has been continuing to build and perpetuate over the course of the past 15 to 20 years specifically. I’ve seen tangible changes over the course of my career and my life, and I felt the need to return to social media on a more public level because of how bad things have gotten.” Asked what he noti...
“Big” John Harte, longtime bodyguard for iconic music artists including KISS, IRON MAIDEN, Billy Idol and Prince, passed away on Friday, February 11 in Hollywood, Florida. He was 70 years old. Born John Joseph Harte III in Newark, New Jersey on November 15, 1951, he was the older of two boys raised in a traditional Irish-Catholic family in nearby Passaic. When Harte‘s mother unexpectedly passed away, he helped support his family while dreaming of becoming a famous musician.
