New York City mayor Eric Adams wants to ban drill rap videos from social media, he said in a speech Friday (February 11th) following the shooting and death of 18-year-old drill rapper Chii Wvttz. “We are alarmed by the use of social media to really over-proliferate this violence in communities,” Adams said, adding that he had no idea what drill rapping was until his son, Roc-Nation’s Jordan Coleman, showed him videos. In the past decade, rappers like Chief Keef, Lil Durk, and the late Pop Smoke have brought the drill subgenre from the underground into a mainstream craze. A successor to trap music and gangsta rap, drill is defined mostly by its nihilistic and often violent lyrics. Thanks to social media, drill’s popularity has increased exponentially in just a few years. Advertisement Relat...

In a statement accompanying the release of the song, APOCALYPTICA said: “This is a big one for us! By being part of Laulu Rakkaudelle (Secret Song Suomi) on MTV, we were recently able to collaborate with the Finnish rock legend Ismo Alanko on a recreation of his legendary track ‘Peltirumpu’. “It was really an honor to get to work on this with a guy who has spearheaded Finnish rock since the 70s! The track itself has a slow build before turning into a bonafide Finnish rocker!” In May 2018, Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett played a cov...
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Slash spoke about “Hard Skool”, one of the first two songs he recorded with GUNS N’ ROSES in more than 25 years. “‘Hard Skool’, in essence, was a completed song when I was first introduced to it,” he said. “And Duff [McKagan, GUNS N’ ROSES bassist] and I went in and redid the bass and the guitars. It’s a simple song, so it didn’t take a hell of a lot of thought and analysis. I think it was a lot of fun just because it was part and parcel of a bunch of stuff that we were working on that was all sort of new — at least to Duff and I — so we had a good time. There’s a bunch of new stuff also coming, maybe a little bit more complex, but it’s just as much fun.” Asked if that...

GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist Slash, who has not smoked since 2009, was asked in a new interview with Germany’s Antenne Sylt what advice he had for millions of smokers who are trying to quit. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Quitting smoking is the hardest thing I’ve ever quit. I can think of a lot of stuff that was hard to quit and smoking was the hardest. You just have to make that decision and then stick to it. “I have to admit, when I quit, I had pneumonia, so for two weeks I couldn’t breathe, let alone smoke, so that got me over the hump,” he continued. “And then, from that point on, I used the patch and then I used Nicorette and then I was doing snus [a moist form of smokeless tobacco which is usually placed under the upper...
Shortly after demanding an apology from Billie Eilish, Kanye West has now started beefing with close friend and frequent collaborator Kid Cudi. Taking to Instagram, Kanye West posted a handwritten letter noting that Kid Cudi will no longer be on DONDA 2. “JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS CUDI WILL NOT BE ON DONDA BECAUSE HE’S FRIENDS WITH YOU KNOW WHO.
