Can CBD Help Prevent Covid-19? A University of Chicago Study Thinks So

In recent years, CBD products have become part of mainstream wellness culture, known to be helpful in curbing the effects of anxiety, chronic pain, and depression. Could CBD be a part of the conversation around preventing coronavirus, too? A 2022 study from UChicago Medicine suggests that high-purity CBD may help block coronavirus from replicating. The science, which was corroborated by a paper from ScienceAdvances (science.org), identified two compounds — CBDa and CBGa — that could perhaps also prevent the virus that causes COVID-19 from entering human cells. Essentially, CBD has the potential to prime the body to protect itself from the virus that causes COVID-19. It sounds like scientists unlocked this new direction almost by happenstance while studying the already established anti-infl...

Chinese Release of Fight Club Includes Awkward Re-Cut Ending Where Police Save the Day

Fight Club ends with a battle of personalities and a series of fiery explosions, as an anarchist plot to upend consumerism brings buildings crashing to the ground. But as Vice notes, Chinese censors prefer the message that evil is always punished and the state will forever triumph over lawlessness, which is why the country’s new version of Fight Club has been burdened with an awkward re-cut where police save the day. David Fincher’s Fight Club became an instant cult classic when it dropped in 1999, following the characters Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) and the Narrator (Edward Norton) as they tried to punch their way through the alienation of modern life. But the cut  streaming on the Chinese site Tencent Video tries to make the case that, ...

In theory, publishing rights are more valuable, as an artist could always re-record their music. Publishing rights ...

Melvins Cover “Spoonman” with Soundgarden Drummer Matt Cameron: Stream

Melvins have shared a cover of Soundgarden’s “Spoonman” featuring Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron himself. The cover hails from the Melvins’ mysterious Lord of the Flies EP. It arrived on January 10th on CD format by the Amphetamine Reptile imprint, but wasn’t released digitally. This thunderous version of “Spoonman” couldn’t be contained on a limited CD release, however, and the band has now made it available via YouTube. The track touts double-drum duty from Cameron (who’s also a member of Pearl Jam) and full-time Melvins pounder Dale Crover, resulting in an even heavier take on an already-heavy song.
