For Consequence, that means our 2022 Annual Report where we’ll name our Artist of the Year, Band of the Year, and dish out more superlatives than a high school yearbook club vice-president hopped up on Pixy Stix and Diet Coke. Judas Priest Celebrate 50 Million Album Sales Worldwide

For more than 50 years, Judas Priest have helped carry the torch for heavy metal music. Now, the band is celebrating not only a half century in music but also 50 million album sales worldwide. Frontman Rob Halford and company were recently presented with a special plaque commemorating 50 years in music and more than 50 million albums sold. The band was given the honor the evening before its induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Los Angeles last month. Björk is keeping the momentum going on her new album Fossora: Today, the art-pop legend has shared the transfixing new music video for the album highlight “Sorrowful Soil.” Björk shared in an Instagram post that, along with the single “Ancestress,” “Sorrowful Soil” is one of two songs on Fossora about her late mother. The Strokes Collect Early Singles in New Vinyl Box Set

The Strokes will compile some of their earliest singles in a new vinyl box set. Due out on February 24th, The Singles – Volume 01 boasts ten singles from the band’s first three albums, as well as their companion B-sides. All ten singles come pressed on black 7-inch vinyl, with the artwork from each original release replicated in the package. Pre-orders are now available via the band’s website and Amazon. Additionally, videos for all ten singles have been re-released in high definition on the band’s YouTube channel. Light in the Attic Announces New Japanese City Pop Compilation

Light in the Attic Records has announced the third volume in its Pacific Breeze archival series: Pacific Breeze 3: Japanese City Pop, AOR & Boogie 1975-1987 is due out February 24. The 16-track release will be available in 2xLP, CD, and cassette formats and features cover art by Hiroshi Nagai, whose paintings also adorned the first two volumes in the series. Elton John to Headline Glastonbury 2023

Elton John will play his final UK show as the Sunday night headliner of Glastonbury 2023, the festival announced Friday (December 2). It will be Elton John’s Glastonbury debut and his second UK festival appearance ever. In a statement reported by The Guardian, John said, “I couldn’t be more excited to be headlining the Pyramid stage. Julius Eastman’s Femenine to Be Released on Vinyl for First Time

Frozen Reeds is bringing Julius Eastman’s Femenine to vinyl for the first time. The Helsinki-based label has announced a reissue of a 1974 performance by the S.E.M. Ensemble, with Eastman on piano. The Femenine vinyl remaster is due out May 30. The album has been remastered from the original high-definition tape transfer by Jim O’Rourke at his Steamroom studio in Japan. It features republished liner notes written by the composer and author Mary Jane Leach, who first met Eastman in the early 1980s and has been a central figure in efforts to archive his work. In 2015, the University of Rochester Press published Gay Guerrilla: Julius Eastman and His Music, a collection of essays on Eastman that Leach co-edited alongside Renee Levine-Packer. Teenager Dies Attempting To Subway Surf In Brooklyn
