Flogging Molly is the latest example of that theory, as the Celtic punks have returned today with the new single “A Song of Liberty.” Not only is the song raising funds for refugee aid in Ukraine, but it also spotlights the work of Ukrainian animators/filmmakers The Mad Twins in its accompanying music video. “A Song of Liberty” isn’t just about the occupation of Ukraine, however. Its inspiration traces all the way back to the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland and through both World Wars. Nine Inch Nails Crush Red Rocks: Photos + Video
Nine Inch Nails played a two-night stand September 2nd and 3rd at the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside of Denver, Colorado. Heavy Consequence was there to take in and capture the second of the two shows. Red Rocks is truly a unique venue, with the amphitheater built into an existing rock structure, adding a dramatic atmosphere for any band that plays there. The natural setting was even more evident when our photographer witnessed a deer randomly walking around as fans lined up to enter the concert. While the first of the two Red Rocks gigs spotlighted NIN’s 1999 album The Fragile, the second show put the focus on The Downward Spiral, with six tunes from the 1994 masterpiece making their way into the 23-song setlist. Dry Cleaning Announce Tour, Share New Song “Gary Ashby”
Dry Cleaning have announced a 2023 world tour in support of their forthcoming sophomore LP Stumpwork. They’ve also shared the latest single from the LP. It’s called “Gary Ashby.” Listen to the new song below, and scroll down for the band’s full itinerary. “Gary Ashby” is “a lament about a pet tortoise, escaped as a result of family chaos,” as the band stated in press materials. Quavo and Takeoff Announce New Album Only Built for Infinity Links
Two thirds of the Atlanta rap trio Migos are teaming up for a new album. Earlier today, Quavo and Takeoff revealed the title and release date of their forthcoming LP. It’s called Only Built for Infinity Links, and it arrives October 7 via Quality Control/Motown. Check out the cover art below. While Quavo and Takeoff have not yet revealed a tracklist, the pair issued a string of singles earlier this year, starting with lead single “Hotel Lobby.” They followed that cut with the Birdman-featuring “Big Stunna” as well as “Us Vs. “‘One’ is a song Andy and I wrote to celebrate the vigour of survival as an eco-femme battle cry. We wrote the lyrics together, pouring through our histories. At certain points, especially as kids, we both fought hard to survive. ‘No More Dying’ in a figurative (and literal sense) is proclaimed as a dare and a raging threat to those who seek to crush empowered innocence. Salvia, the vanguard of a younger generation who has fiercely explored modern identity, was the perfect channel for the song and the video. When Tim Walker confirmed that Salvia was open to collaborate, we were thrilled. For Hercules and Love Affair, a project that since the beginning has sought to express uninhibited queer freedom of expression, this video feels like a crowning achievement. And I am so grateful.”
