With Its Season 4 Finale, What We Do in the Shadows Confirmed It’s a Legend In the Making

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers through the Season 4 finale of What We Do in the Shadows, “Sunrise, Sunset.”] Some comedy series premiere in a blaze of glory before eventually losing some of their luster — the joke of the premise wasn’t enough to sustain more than five episodes, or the writing of Season 2 never lived up to the promise of Season 1. Which is why it’s so satisfying to watch the Season 4 finale of What We Do in the Shadows and know that this is a series that’s well on its way to becoming an iconic tentpole for FX. FX isn’t a network known for hasty cancellations, with many of its shows running for as long as the creators want to keep doing them (meaning four seasons for Atlanta, and infinity seasons for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia). But it was still eye-o...

No CAP: Young Guru Drops Receipt That JAY-Z Recorded Epic ‘God Did’ Verse In One Take

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty We’re still talking about JAY-Z’s epic “God Did” verse, and now there is skepticism about whether or not HOV recorded it in his signature one-take style. Young Guru has come through with a huge receipt to kill all doubt. Fresh off his expert dissection of Jigga’s “God Did” bars, the engineer/producer decided to shut up the naysayers who fixed their lips and Twitter fingers to say JAY-Z did not record the verse in one take. In the caption for the IG post that shares a photo of JAY-Z taking a photo or recording a video of Guru  doing what he does best, he wrote: “This is first and last time I’m gonna do this. I could care less if you believe me when I say that he did this @djkhaled verse in one take. Let’s be clear for the youth. D...

HipHopWired Featured Video It’s been a few months since Kendrick Lamar blessed us with his latest project, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, but that isn’t keeping the man from dropping a new visual for one the album’s standout cuts. Coming through with a short film for “We Cry Together,” K. Dot ditches the audio from the album and goes live and direct with it as he argues up a storm with the talented Taylour Paige and reminds us that he truly is a once in a generation artist that we need to appreciate while he’s here. Courtney Marie Andrews Reminds Us “These Are the Good Old Days” with New Single: Stream

Courtney Marie Andrews returns today with the new single “These Are the Good Old Days,” the latest single off her upcoming album Loose Future. It arrives with an accompanying music video, as well as newly-added tour dates in the UK and EU through 2023. Andrews said she wanted to release a “feel-good song,” and “These Are the Good Old Days” is just what the doctor ordered. Backed by a simple instrumental arrangement, the song is a placid ode to living in the moment, and a gentle reminder that dwelling on the past or catastrophizing the future are rarely beneficial: “People like me think feelings are facts/ Falling in love gives us a heart attack/ One foot in the future, one in the past/ Wanna know for sure if it’s gonna last,” Andrews sings. “‘These are the good old days’ is a saying m...
