ODESZA Share Behind-the-Scenes Footage of the Making of “The Last Goodbye”

“Honestly if you haven’t made music in a while, you have to, like, re-learn how to make music,” says ODESZA‘s Harrison Mills. When the duo released The Last Goodbye, their scintillating fourth studio album, it had been almost five years since their last LP. After all, it’s only natural to shake off some cobwebs, even for a Grammy-nominated act in the vanguard of electronic music. But after conceiving the direction of what would eventually materialize as the album’s titular track, it wasn’t long before ODESZA found their stride. And they went on to create perhaps their most inspired work yet. ODESZA today shared behind-the-scenes footage of the making of “The Last Goodbye.” The video features in interview with fabled Detro...

Harry Styles and Kate Bush Named Spotify’s Songs of Summer 2022

With Labor Day just around the corner, Spotify has released its Top Songs of Summer 2022 report. To no one’s surprise, it is led by a pair of Brits: Harry Styles and Kate Bush. Globally, the most-streamed song between May 29th and August 29th was Styles’ worldwide smash “As It Was.” Despite spending more than 10 weeks at No. 1 in both the US and UK, however, the Harry’s House cut was no match for the resurgence of Bush’s 37-year-old single “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” in those countries. Thanks to its prominent placement in Season 4 of Stranger Things, “Running Up That Hill” was the most-streamed song on Spotify in the US and the UK, beating out “As It Was” by one spot in both instances. According to the report, first-time streams from Gen Z listeners in the US increased by 7,8...

Wu-Tang Clan and Nas Bring it Back to Hip-Hop’s Golden Age at Tour Kickoff in St. Louis: Review and Setlist

East Coast hip-hop royalty descended upon the Midwest as Wu-Tang Clan and Nas kicked off their “NY State of Mind Tour” (grab tickets here) at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in St. Louis on Tuesday night (August 30th). The house was packed; lawn tickets were being sold for the same price as a 25-ounce Bud Light at the concession stand, and the strategy paid off. If it wasn’t sold out, the turnout had to have been close to the venue’s 20,000 capacity. Given that the tour’s namesake is derived from Nas’ legendary Illmatic track, nostalgia was the evening’s leitmotif. The night would lean heavily on material from Nas and Wu-Tang’s classic albums, with both making frequent references to hip-hop’s golden age and those who were there to live it. “Who here had a hip-hop album on cassette tape?”...

Toronto has always rallied behind us and we are so lucky to feel that love. But they are also stressful because you don’t want to screw up in front of everyone you know.” He continued, “All of our families, friends, frenemies, the guy who used to sell me weed at the Wendy’s drive-thru, kids I went to elementary school with, my parents’ neighbors. Chrisean Rock Says She’ll Never Hit Blueface ‘In Public’ Again, But He Says, ‘I’m Worried’

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Prince Williams / Getty We all know that rapper Blueface and his (I guess?) girlfriend Chrisean Rock are a walking reality show for older people who miss Jerry Springer and younger folks who need a measuring stick for how toxic their relationship is. But an incident that led to Rock’s arrest earlier this month—after she was caught on camera throwing hands at the “Respect My Cryppin” rapper—has given her new clarity and she says her days of domestic violence against her man have come to an end.  A reporter for TMZ caught up with the (again, I guess?) couple at the Los Angeles International Airport on Monday and asked what can be done to make their relationship more stable and less like a Bizarro World Ike and Tina situation (my words, not his), to whi...
