The blaster that created the million-dollar question “Who shot first?” for generations of Star Wars fans has now become the million-dollar smoking gun, as the prop used by Harrison Ford’s character Han Solo in 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope was recently sold at auction for $1,057,500. The sale occurred at a collector firearm event hosted by Rock Island Auction Company with initial estimates for the DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol ranging from $300,000 to $500,000. The Monkees’ Micky Dolenz Sues FBI to Turn Over Secret File on the Band
Micky Dolenz, the sole surviving member of The Monkees, is suing the FBI for failing to hand over the entirety of the agency’s file on the band, Rolling Stone reports. The backstory of this case dates all the way back to The Monkees’ 1967 inaugural tour, which an FBI informant attended: “During the concert, subliminal messages were depicted on the screen which, in the opinion of [informant’s name redacted], constituted ‘left wing intervention of a political nature,’” reads a document in the band’s FBI file that was made available to the public a little over a decade ago. “These messages and pictures were flashed of riots, in Berkley, anti-U.S. messages on the war in Vietnam, racial riots in Selma, Alabama, and similar messages which had unfavorable response[s] from the audience.” Dolenz fi...

Ben Kingsley delighted and deceived his way through Iron Man 3 and Shang Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings, and as Variety reports, he’ll bring back the character Trevor Slatterly in Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man series for Disney+. Wonder Man will reunite Kingsley with the show’s co-creator and executive producer, Destin Daniel Cretton, who helmed Shang-Chi. Some reports have suggested that Cretton is planning an action-packed Hollywood satire; Slatterly’s backstory is struggling actor, and in the comics, Wonder Man worked as a stunt man to try and monetize his invulnerability. White Noise, Noah Baumbach’s new film adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel of the same name, premieres tomorrow (August 31) at the Venice International Film Festival. Netflix has now also revealed the details of the movie’s wider release: White Noise will show in select theaters starting November 25 before it streams on December 30. Accessible Festivals Announces New Grant Program Giving Concert Tickets to Disabled Music Fans
Accessible Festivals has announced a new program to give free concert tickets to fans with disabilities. The Dan Grover Memorial Ticket Grant Program will provide tickets to major music festivals including Austin City Limits, Electric Daisy Carnival, Lollapalooza, BottleRock Napa Valley, Rolling Loud NY, Stagecoach, and more. The program is spearheaded by Austin Whitney, founder of Accessible Festivals, and was inspired by his own experience attending concerts as a disabled person. A 2007 car accident left Whitney paralyzed from the waist down, causing him depression and anxiety.
