Song of the Week breaks down and talks about the song we just can’t get out of our head each week. Find these songs and more on our Spotify Top Songs playlist. For our favorite new songs from emerging artists, check out our Spotify New Sounds playlist. This week, Queen Bey takes us on a journey into outer space with “ALIEN SUPERSTAR.” Beyoncé‘s new album Renaissance is an entire listening experience. The songs flow into one another with such precise care that leaving one and entering another is sometimes unnoticeable, making it the kind of record best absorbed as a whole. This also makes it difficult to single out any one track as a standout among gems, but with “ALIEN SUPERSTAR,” Queen Bey reminds us exactly who she is. “I’m one of one, I’m number one, I’m the onl...
Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese can’t seem to get enough of each other lately: After wrapping production on the upcoming Killers of the Flower Moon, the actor and director are teaming up for another Apple Originals Film called The Wager, as first broken by The Hollywood Reporter. Just like Flower Moon, the upcoming project is an adaptation of a non-fiction book by journalist David Grann. This time around, Scorsese is taking on Grann’s The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder, which is due out in April 2023. The Wager is set in the 1740s and tells the story of a British naval ship of the same name. After it crashed in South America’s Patagonia region while chasing a Spanish ship filled with treasure, the remaining 30-person crew somehow braved the seas in...
Next time you’re in Albuquerque, be on the lookout for statues honoring two of the city’s most notorious drug dealers. Kelis called out the sample of her track “Milkshake” on Beyoncé‘s RENAISSANCE, labelling the use of the track as “theft.” The artist took to Instagram several times to speak on the matter, first using her chef account to clarify that she allegedly was not made aware of the sample. “My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding. I heard about this the same way everyone else did. Nothing is ever as it seems, some of the people in this business have no soul or integrity and they have everyone fooled,” she commented. Kelis also responded to a fan who commented that a collab between them is what “the world really needs,” stating, “It’s not a collab it’s theft.” Moving over to her main Instagram, Kelis shared two videos expl...
Christina Aguilera was soaking up the summer sun on Friday (July 29), sharing a series of poolside bikini photos. “Loving me for me,” she captioned the first snaps, alongside a geo-tag indicating that the “Genie in a Bottle” singer is currently vacationing in Spain. In a follow-up video, the pop star shared her “religious experience” swimming by the pool and enjoying the Spanish scenery. It’s been a big year for Aguilera, who released her EP La Fuerza in January, which comes more than 20 years since her first Spanish-language album, Mi Reflejo. “I’ve always had it in me. I never stopped singing in Spanish,” she previously told Billboard. Whenever the opportunities came about where I was really passionate about a project, I’d go for it. I always say when you grow up with something...

Two of the artists nominated for the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards go way back with the VMAs, to the very first show in 1984. Madonna, who is nominated for best long-form music video for “MADAME X,” was nominated for best new artist in a video at the inaugural MTV Video Music Awards for “Borderline.” She didn’t win — the award went to Eurythmics for “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This”) — but she left with something even better than an award: She stole the show with her fully committed performance of “Like a Virgin,” in which she writhed around the floor of Radio City Music Hall in a wedding dress. The other 2022 VMA contender who was nominated at the first VMAs is Elton John. The pop legend is nominated this year for both song of the year and best collaboration for “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix),” hi...
Jackson Wang embodies the title of his upcoming album Magic Man with a superpowered music video. After the song made its live debut during Wang’s Coachella set with 88rising earlier this year, “Cruel” has finally been unveiled alongside a cinematic music video. The track’s rough, rock-pop production couples with a visual showcasing a fire-breathing Jackson fighting off a gang of soul-sucking female antagonists. Along with his new single, the GOT7 member also revealed upcoming details about his forthcoming Magic Man album. With the pre-order information ...
Joseph Quinn, who portrayed the fan favorite Stranger Things character Eddie Munson, met up with Metallica and jammed with them during a rehearsal for their headlining show at Lollapalooza. In a video shared by Netflix, the band and the actor hung out backstage where James Hetfield confirmed that he’s been a big fan of the show since its first season. After Quinn admitted that “Master of Puppets” — the Metallica track his character on the show famously played — was all that he listened to for two years to prepare for the role, they went on to perform the song during rehearsal. With the actor impressing the band with his take on the cut, drummer Lars Ulrich announced, “Metallica is now a five piece.” To top it off, the band gifted Quinn with a signed replica of the guitar Eddie uses on Stra...
