GRiZ is launching a new harm reduction program, Harmony Project. The program was created in partnership with industry safety leaders DanceSafe and Good Night Out Vancouver. The mission of the Harmony Project, according to its founders, is to make electronic music events safer on all fronts. They’ve broken it down into three key pillars: care, community and consent. The first pillar asks everyone to check in with their friends and strangers to make sure everyone is taking care of themselves and those around them. This means drinking water, resting, and ensuring the venue is cared for as well. The second pillar encourages attendees to visit the Harmony Project booth and improve their harm reduction skills, including feeling comfortable asking for help. The final ca...
We suspect the 2018 version of Xotix would be proud of where this ascendant duo stands today. It was less than a handful of years ago that Xotix attended Enchanted Forest and planted the seeds for what is a memorable festival act in the making. This year, the duo are fully immersed in the circuit, performing to crowds at Wobbleland and Lightning in a Bottle with many more stops to come, including a landmark performance at Excision’s Lost Lands. Topping it all off is the surging bass music tandem’s brand new Best Coast EP, a four-track offering that makes for the perfect introduction to the duo’s eclectic brand of bass. A cursory search through Xotix’s discography paints a picture of a duo who are rapidly coming into their own, and...

Floridian indie rockers Pool Kids have shared their great self-titled album today, out now via Skeletal Lightning. Led by the crystal-clear vocals of bandleader Christine Goodwyne, Pool Kids are a four-piece who blend elements of emo, math rock, and art rock into an amalgam of energetic, raw songs that have earned a coveted co-sign from Paramore’s Hayley Williams. On Pool Kids, the follow-up to their promising 2018 album Music to Practice Safe Sex To, the band sound more refined without losing their candid charm. But Pool Kids almost didn’t happen at all. On one of the last days recording the album, the band were awoken in the middle of the night to a flood in the basement of the studio where they were recording, leaving their equipment destroyed, their recordings ...

This week, Megan Thee Stallion recruits Future for her new single “Pressurelicious.” Though Megan Thee Stallion counts Future as one of her favorite rappers, the two superstars had somehow never connected on a track until her new single, “Pressurelicious.” Featuring a hypnotic beat from Hitkidd, the hard-hitting trap anthem should heat up strip clubs this summer. In a June interview with Rolling Stone, Meg said Future deserves his flowers for being “unapologetically himself” while dealing with constant online scrutiny “gracefully.” As someone who was put under a microscope long before Tory Lanez allegedly shot her, the Houston rapper can clearly relate to the immense p...

Kid Cudi stormed off the stage during his headlining set at Rolling Loud Miami on Friday (July 22) after being hit numerous times by objects thrown from the crowd. The “Day ‘N’ Nite” rapper, who was a last-minute replacement for Kanye West, was early into his late-night performance when he stopped the show after being hit in the face by what appeared to be a water bottle. Clearly rattled, Cudi gave the audience a final warning before ultimately exiting the stage. After Rolling Loud Miami made the announcement that Kanye West is being replaced by Kid Cudi as its headliner, it appears that fans were let down after the Man on the Moon artist stormed off stage. While Cudi has always been the one to stay out of controversy, the singer had enough when fans began to throw garbage and bottles onto the stage while he performed. While it is not uncommon for fans to be over-excited and throw miscellaneous items on stage including bras, underwear and phones, it can be understandably irritating for the performer. After being pelted with multiple items and being hit in the face with a water bottle, Cudi was evidently annoyed and stopped his set to call out the fans. He can be heard announcing, “If I get hit with one more f*ckin’ thing, if I see one more f*ckin’ ...
