The EDM community is healing, and after over a year in quarantine it seems artists have more unreleased music to play out than ever. That brings us to last weekend, when more DJs appeared at HARD Summer than a free flight to Ibiza. Among them were Dillon Francis and Eptic, who seized the opportunity to perform at one of SoCal’s first major festivals back—and a triumphant one at that—to reveal a brand new collab. The two electronic music superstars teamed up back in August 2019 for a moombahton banger called “Let It Go,” but this time around they’ve opted to go the trap route. Fans were able to hear a clear fusion of both artists, as the track roars with the screeching synths of Eptic and the classic trap brass of Francis. And if their reaction is any indic...
There are few artists who can do it all, and lucky for Pauline Herr, it comes effortlessly. Her latest pop-electronica endeavor, the six-song Contradictions EP, is entirely self-sung, written, produced and mixed. Released July 30th via Seeking Blue Records, the label home of ILLENIUM’s Ashes and Awake projects, Contradictions is a special look behind the curtain at Herr’s most authentic self. “All I really want is to connect with people by showing them my heart, while being as transparent and vulnerable as possible,” Herr said in a press release. From the bright, anticipative tones of its opening track “Infatuated” to the vocal filters of “This Is Gonna Be Hard,” Contradictions demonstrates Herr’s st...
The end of summer is fast approaching, but budding house music producer Kyle Kinch wants you to forget that with “Rumpshaker,” a tech house bomb that belongs by the poolside. One listen through the booty-shaking anthem is all it takes to see why Kinch’s music has been heavily supported by Gorgon City, CamelPhat, FISHER, and Sonny Fodera, among other major dance music artists. The song’s vocal refrain invites you to sweat, urging you to move with a chugging bassline and quirky sound design. It’s an underground stunner that further positions its creator as an exciting talent in the house scene. “Rumpshaker” arrives ahead of an exciting stretch in the blossoming career of Kinch, who is primed for massive appearances at some of the most coveted dance m...
LSDREAM is charting the course for his his third full-length album, aptly titled PEACE LOVE & WUBZ. The dubstep and experimental bass music star recently announced the new LP, but stopped short of sharing a release date. However, he did unveil the album’s titular track, a mind-bending banger blending elements of trap and funk. In addition to disco-inspired synths and filthy bass patches, “PEACE LOVE & WUBZ” also flaunts verses from Cojaxx, a rapper and hip-hop artist who has performed as 12th Planet’s MC. Check out the wobbly single below, the third to be released from the upcoming album. The summer heat has already been off the charts, and with the release of FISHER‘s first song of the year, it looks like club HVAC systems are about to go into overdrive. Released July 30th via his own Catch & Release imprint, “Just Feels Tight” has arrived just in time to close the season with a bang. Loaded with floor-shaking intensity and rippling basslines, the track finds power in its anticipative builds and dynamic phaser overlays. And while “Just Feels Tight” doesn’t quite pack the punch of landmark FISHER singles like “Losing It” and “You Little Beauty,” the penetrative sound design of its drop proves he is just getting started when it comes to explosive club music. “Just Feels Tight” comes paired...
In music, there have always been two types of producers: those who play the game, and those who shape it. These latter tastemakers are above the cut when it comes to their sonic instincts, particularly when it comes to partnering up with their peers. Nowadays, TOKiMONSTA is leading the pack, and she’s right on target with her latest collaborator: the always-in-demand Channel Tres. Released July 30th via her own Young Art Records banner, “Naked” sees TOKiMONSTA’s ear for rhythm and groove find its perfect pairing in the woozy warmth of Channel Tres. Featuring a decadent bass line and disco-inspired synthscapes, it brings the energy of an invite-only speakeasy, making you feel trendier simply by pressing play. The mood of “Naked” comes to a head with a tri...
After weeks of teasing his debut album, including the release of singles “HOLD ON ME” and “SENSITIVE,” Tisoki has finally unveiled 01953 via Monstercat. In his latest endeavor, Tisoki has taken a more introspective approach that was inspired by his time in quarantine. Instead of writing earth-shattering, festival-ready tunes, he’s created a thoughtful story that gives fans a taste of his upbringing in Wymondham, UK. Tisoki’s diverse skill set is on full display throughout 01953. He expertly shifts between moodier, melancholic tracks to hard-hitting bangers, subverting expectations over and over again. His UK roots shine bright on the 10-track LP, as elements of old-school dubstep, grime, and garage are infused within various tracks ...
Just over two weeks ago ILLENIUM shook the dance music world with the release of his highly anticipated fourth album, Fallen Embers. While that in and of itself was a lot for his fans to process, they’ve now been gifted a high-profile remix from NGHTMRE, who took on ILLENIUM’s collaboration with Matt Maeson, “Heavenly Side.” While ILLENIUM’s original is much more stripped back with a heavy emphasis on guitar and Maeson’s vocals, NGHTMRE’s rendition represents a significant departure. Bright keys welcome listeners in before heavily processed vocals give way to an explosion of colorful, bright synths that fill the air with a euphoric thwack. You can listen to NGHTMRE’s remix of “Heavenly Side” here and listen below. R...
Galantis and Don Diablo have joined forces for their first-ever collab, a scintillating electronic jam called “Tears For Later.” Released by way of Diablo’s HEXAGON imprint, the track is a bit of a departure for both Galantis and Diablo in terms of its composition. The downtempo arrangement harkens back to the latter’s summer 2016 hit “What We Started” (with Steve Aoki and Lush & Simon), eschewing his euphoric future house style for a woozier feel at a head-bopping 95 BPM. However, its sound design is signature of both of the dance music superstar acts. The distinct, saccharine vocal style of Galantis is an ideal fit for the bubbly synths and fluttering arpeggios of Diablo. You can listen to “Tears For Later”...
Returning with yet another sensational single, GT_Ofice has teamed up with the award-winning artist Jantine for their new tune “Pieces,” out now on Caine Records. Known for delivering electro-pop productions, GT_Ofice’s sixth offering of the year follows suit. “Pieces” kicks off with an inviting house beat, pulling listeners in with entrancing murmurs throughout the introduction. With romantic accents textured in the background, Jantine’s voice takes focus. Her lyricism expresses the emotional struggle of learning to love again, wondering if she can count on her partner when times get tough. “When you lose all faith in love, it only takes one person to completely change your mind,” the artists explained in a joint statement. ...
The path to Adventure Club‘s sophomore album is clearer than ever after the duo dropped one of its singles, a must-listen melodic dubstep track called “Safe With Me.” Produced alongside Soar, “Safe With Me” is nothing short of breathtaking. Luma provides a gripping topline, brilliantly singing about finding solace in the arms of another while the world crumbles—a concept we can all relate to after the hellscape of a year that was 2020. Her vocals serenade hypnotic production in the verse, which builds and eventually culminates in a classic Adventure Club drop. The song is far from cookie-cutter, and its depth deepens as the arrangement glides along. The second drop is a masterclass in musical composition, thanks to the clever sync...
With a huge performance comes huge surprises. During his momentous Red Rocks show earlier this week, melodic bass superstar Seven Lions showcased a massive, brand new collaboration with Lights. Thankfully, a fan was able to capture the surreal moment in a clip later shared by a fan account dedicated to the producer’s Ophelia Records imprint. The majority of the recording comprises Lights’ scintillating vocals, but viewers are also able to hear a section of a soaring melodic dubstep drop towards the end. Following widespread speculation about who the vocalist was, Lights eventually chimed in with a smoking gun of a tweet containing a series of “eyes” emojis. At the time of this article’s publication, the track has no known name or release date. We’ll keep...
