Guns N’ Roses have announced the new Hard Skool EP, arriving February 25th. The band also played the new song “Hard School” live for the first time on Sunday (September 26th) at a concert in Baltimore. The four-song EP includes “Hard Skool,” previous studio single “ABSUЯD,” and live versions of “Don’t Cry” and “You’re Crazy.” It will be available on cassette, CD, and digitally. A 7″ vinyl version will be available on June 24th, featuring just “Hard Skool” and a live version of “ABSUЯD.” “Hard Skool” is the second previously unreleased Chinese Democracy-era track to be officially released as a single in 2021. Metallica Perform “The Black Album” in Full from Back to Front at Louder Than Life

Metallica treated fans at Louder Than Life to a full performance of “The Black Album” on Sunday night (September 26th). In honor of its 30th anniversary, the metal titans played the mega-selling LP from back to front at the festival Louisville, Kentucky. The gig was Metallica’s second of the fest, having been booked to play two distinct sets on Friday and Sunday night. On Friday, Metallica played no songs from “The Black Album,” perhaps hinting that a full album performance was coming on Sunday. The Sunday set started with three songs from other albums — “Hardwired,” “The Four Horseman,” and “Welcome Home (Sanitarium).” Then, a 30th anniversary “Black Album” interlude was played with video images of the band members (including former bassist Jason Newsted) before Metallica launched into th...

Machine Gun Kelly Fights Fan, Gets Booed During Louder Than Life Performance: Watch

Machine Gun Kelly’s headlining set at Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday (September 25th) was certainly an eventful one. The rapper turned pop-punker was heckled throughout the gig, and at one point threw a punch at a fan who jumped the barricade to confront him. It’s safe to say that the fans turned on MGK due to his recent feud with Slipknot singer Corey Taylor. While Slipknot weren’t on the bill for Louder Than Life, a lot of bands on the Saturday lineup share fans with the masked metal act, including Disturbed, Volbeat, Code Orange, and more. Video footage shows Machine Gun Kelly performing to a chorus of boos, with festival goers flipping him the bird. At one point, when the singer made his way down to the photo pit, a couple of fans jumped the barricade to...

Let’s get it out of the way: those on Rihanna Watch will be pleased to know that she did indeed show up for her beau A$AP Rocky’s blistering headlining performance at Governors Ball on Saturday, September 25th. Fugees Perform “Ready or Not” at First Concert in 15 Years: Watch

Earlier this week, Fugees reunited at New York City’s Pier 17 for their first performance in 15 years. A portion of the concert was filmed for broadcast on Saturday night as part of the Global Citizen Festival. Below, watch their performance of “Ready or Not.” All told, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel performed a seven song set pulling exclusively from their classic album The Score. Though they took the stage nearly four hours late, “in the air there was a genuine sense of rebirth that has been present in very few reunion tours — as if they had, in these 25 years, figured out exactly how to fit in the narrow space between nostalgia and modernity,” wrote Valerie Megan in her review of the concert for Consequence. “It was a glorious victory lap, underlined by the nipping breeze...

Billie Eilish Assumes Her Role as Pop Icon at Governors Ball 2021

Billie Eilish was only 16 years old the last time she played Governors Ball back in 2018, but she still felt like it was something different. “It was my favorite show I’d ever done,” she told the crowd on Friday night (September 24th) as she headlined Day 1 of Gov Ball, which has relocated to Citi Field from Randall’s Island, “And this might be that the second time.” A Billie Eilish show in 2021 is certainly a marquee event, and last night’s crowd knew that very well — thousands of fans showed up to cheer on one of the biggest stars in the world and experience live music again. Regardless of where you were situated in the crowd, you could physically hear the army of fans singing Eilish’s words back to her, almost louder than she even expected. Governors Ball 2021 Day 1: The 5 Best Things We Saw

It was just a few months ago that Foo Fighters welcomed back live music in New York City with their Madison Square Garden show, and that already feels like a lifetime ago. If that was the city healing, the return of Governors Ball is NYC thriving. The festival kicked off its 10th anniversary celebration on Friday night, beckoning the throngs of music-hungry youths to its new location at Citi Field. The parking lot setting is a far cry from the barely-accessible Randall’s Island of years’ past, and frankly that’s a good thing. There was already enough anxiety about being in such massive throngs once again (checked for vaccinations and negative tests though they were) without worrying about cramming onto a bus or missing the last ferry to get off the island. That relative ease compared to ye...

Governors Ball kicked off its 10th anniversary celebration on Friday, September 24th. Headlined by Billie Eilish, Day 1 of Gov Ball 2021 saw electric sets from Bartees Strange, Orville Peck, Leon Bridges, Future Islands, Portugal. The Man, Freddie Gibbs, EARTHGANG, and many more. We may not have been able to catch all the incredible music that hit the stages throughout the day, but you can see what we saw by checking out this photo gallery from Consequence’s own Ben Kaye and Perry Froelich. Stay tuned for more daily galleries from the fest, plus catch our complete photo collection and portra...
