A new album from They Might Be Giants is coming faster than you can say “Constantinople.” BOOK, the geek-rock icons’ 22nd (!!!) full-length LP, is due October 29th. As a preview of the upcoming music, TMBG have shared a surreal video for the snappy single, “I Can’t Remember the Dream.” BOOK, the album, is billed as a beacon of light amid a pretty unanimously rough period of time; As the band’s John Linnell describes, its songs are “humorously germane to the catastrophe going on around us.” “I Can’t Remember the Dream” is a perfect fit for this purpose, detailing all the benefits of a pleasant slumber: “I can’t remember the dream that I had last night/ But I woke with delight and excitement/ And then when I tried to remember the dream that I had last night/ It was gone, but the feeling I ha...
Being the star of one of Disney Channel’s all-time most popular shows leaves you with pretty thick skin. Just ask Miley Cyrus, who’s just debuted a new no-holds-barred merch drop dubbed the “Miley Sucks” collection. Spending most of her life in the limelight has certainly encouraged the pop star to not take herself too seriously, as evidenced by a trucker hat that proudly proclaims: “Miley can go fuck herself.” Other highlights from the merch drop include a pair of sweatpants that read “Fuck Miley Cyrus,” a NSFW muscle tee scribbled with “Miley Cyrus made me realize I am gay,” and — perhaps the naughtiest of all — a t-shirt adorned with a nude pin-up illustration alongside the phrase “Miley Cyrus makes me wet.” If these options are a little too bold for you, you can also opt for a vintage-...

At long last, De La Soul are bringing their back catalog to streaming services. The group recently acquired the rights to their masters, finally giving the hip-hop luminaries the opportunity to make their music digitally available on their terms. “Our catalog will be released this year, we are trying to work hard and diligently along with the good folks up at Reservoir. We sat down and we got it done pretty quick actually — maybe in two weeks’ time tops,” said Dave “Trugoy the Dove” Jolicoeur on Instagram Live. “Music will be released [in] 2021 on all streaming platforms — we’re trying to get the whole catalog out there. There’s a lot of back work that needs to be done, so that’s why it’s taking a little time to get that out.” Watch the full announcement below. Earlier this week, Tali...
Stevie Nicks no longer plans to hit the road in 2021 due to concerns over the rising number of COVID cases. The Fleetwood Mac singer was scheduled to appear at a number of festivals this fall, including BottleRock Napa Valley, Austin City Limits, and Jazz Aspen Festival. Nicks was also booked to play this year’s New Orleans Jazz Fest, but that event was already canceled earlier in the week. “These are challenging times with challenging decisions that have to be made,” Nicks said in a statement. “I want everyone to be safe and healthy and the rising Covid cases should be of concern to all of us. While I’m vaccinated, at my age, I am still being extremely cautious and for that reason have decided to skip the five performances I had planned for 2021.” Advertisement Related Video “Because sing...

By Jaelani Turner-Williams Tinashe is back and better than before. Two years since the release of her 2019 album Songs for You — also Tinashe’s first project as an independent artist — the singer-songwriter has returned with her long-awaited effort 333. Named after Tinashe’s life-path number 3, a divine number calculated from her birth date, the album sonically encompasses her journey to enlightenment through spirituality, metaphysics, and creative alignment. “[The album] is the perfect evolution of not only my sound, but also a lot of concepts that I’ve previously touched on in my other work,” Tinashe told MTV News. “In terms of thinking about the nature of reality, I’ve been dabbling in that concept since 2012 [when] I put out my second project, Reverie, which was about potentially livin...
Sigur Rós have launched a new CBD tincture line. Called EXHALE, it is the latest strain from their partnership with the VONA collective. EXHALE is designed to address the negative physiological effects of stress and help the body produce GABA (gamma-Aminobutyric acid), a neurotransmitter that relaxes the nervous system. Just like Sigur Rós’ first two CBD tincture lines, SLEEP and WAKE, it contains 1000 mg of broad-spectrum CBD per bottle. “We went into this with a single intent; create the best anti-anxiety product and make it accessible to as many people as possible,” said band member Jónsi in a statement. “Anxiety affects people globally, from all walks of life, including me. So it just made sense for us to focus our efforts around creating a non-habit forming, natural remedy for anxiety...
Last week, The Weeknd finally unveiled “Take My Breath,” the lead single from his upcoming album The Dawn that he’s been teasing for quite a while. Now, he’s back with an even groovier extended version of the hit song, which you can stream below. “Take My Breath (Extended Version)” goes all in on ’80s synth, disco drumming, and that infectious, wobbly bass that sounds like it’s straight out of a Halloween movie. It’s hard to hear the lengthier version of this absolute jam and not interpret it as The Weeknd giving everyone a reason to dance as vaccinated people cautiously begin celebrating a post-pandemic world. “I know temptation is the devil in disguise,” he sings. “You risk it all to feel alive.” The single is about being in a whirlwind romance, of course, but lyrics about making your br...
