Spotify, Amazon, and Pandora Propose Even Lower Streaming Royalty Rates
Like a twisted game of limbo, songwriters and artists are constantly asked to go lower and lower, and only the streaming companies win. As Billboard reports, on October 21st, several major streamers filed to the US Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) proposing royalty rates for 2023-2027. Three of the biggest platforms — Spotify, Amazon, and Pandora — are recommending a significant reduction in royalty rates over the 2018–2022 period. These upcoming four years, 2023-2027, are known as CRB Phonorecords IV, denoting the fourth period of rate determination. It follows Phonorecords I for 2008–2012, Phonorecords II from 2013–2017, and Phonorecords III from 2018-2022. Slipknot Announce Knotfest Los Angeles Livestream
Slipknot have announced that they will stream their upcoming Knotfest Los Angeles concert. The stream goes live at 9:00 p.m. ET on Friday, November 5th. It marks Slipknot’s first-ever livestream event. In addition to their headlining set, bonus performances by support acts Killswitch Engage, Fever 333, Code Orange, Vended, and Cherry Bombs will also be streamed. Bring Me the Horizon is the only Knotfest Los Angeles act not included. Tickets are on sale now at this location for a pre-sale cost of $15, with day-of tickets going for $20. ABBA have released their latest reunion single, “Just a Notion.” The track serves as the third preview of the legendary pop group’s forthcoming studio album, Voyage, following the release of the dual lead singles “I Still Have Faith in You” and “Don’t Shut Me Down” in early September. Voyage is due out November 5th via Capitol Records. It marks the disco pop icons’ first studio album since dropping The Visitors in 1981.
