“You don’t look like a bodyguard…” Warner Bros. announced today that it’s moving forward with a remake of Whitney Houston’s The Bodyguard. Nearly three decades after the 1992 romance starring Houston and Kevin Costner found runaway success, a new script is being penned by Matthew López, according to Variety. (The playwright and screenwriter received his first Tony nomination last year following the success of his 2019 play The Inheritance.) Mac Miller’s Faces to Be Released on Streaming Services and Vinyl for the First Time
Mac Miller fans rejoice: The late rapper’s 2014 mixtape Faces is finally hitting streaming services on October 15th. Miller first unveiled the project as a free download on Mother’s Day seven years ago. It features guest appearances from the likes of Earl Sweatshirt, Vince Staples, The Cool Kids’ Sir Michael Rocks, and more. A follow-up to his 2013 album Watching Movies with the Sound Off, the mixtape served to hold fans over until the Pittsburgh native dropped his third album, GO:OD AM, in September 2015. G-Eazy Arrested in New York Following Brawl Outside Hotel
G-Eazy was arrested earlier this week in New York City and charged with allegedly punching two men in the face. The altercation occurred in the early hours of Friday morning outside The Standard, High Line hotel, the New York Police Department told Billboard. On Monday, September 13th, G-Eazy (whose real name is Gerald Earl Gillum) was brought in on misdemeanor assault charges. He was subsequently released after being given a ticket and instructed to appear in court on a later date. This is hardly the first time the artist has found himself in trouble with the law. He previously plead guilty to charges of assault, drug possession, and resisting arrest stemming from a 2018 incident with a bouncer at a nightclub in Sweden. Gojira have always been an environmentally conscious band, and now scientists have honored the French metal act by naming three newly discovered fossils after them. The brittle star fossils were found in France, Luxembourg, and Austria on what was once the bed of the Jurassic Tethys Ocean. Each of the new species were named after the members of Gojira: Ophiogojira labadiei honoring bassist Jean-Michel Labadie; Ophiogojira andreui for lead guitarist Christian Andreu; and Ophioduplantiera noctiluca for both Joe and Mario Duplantier.
