Johnny Marr Shares New Singles “Sensory Street” and “Tenement Time”: Stream

Johnny Marr has released “Sensory Street” and “Tenement Time,” a pair of new singles off his upcoming EP Fever Dreams Pt 2, due out December 17th. The synth-driven “Sensory Street” follows in the footsteps of August’s “Spirit, Power and Soul” and is described by Marr via a press statement as “the story of a surreal 48 hours in subterranean England.” Meanwhile, “Tenement Time” is a rollicking tune inspired by Marr’s own childhood memories. “That’s the experience of growing up in the inner city as a little kid, running around being quite wild,” explained Marr. “This idea of ‘Forever, forever is mine’ — it’s about running around Ardwick, bunking into warehouses and getting chased. That was the first time I was self-consciously into culture: Around people who wore certain clothes, and it ...

Camp Cope Return with New Song “Blue”: Stream

Camp Cope have returned with their first new song in three years, “Blue.” The Aussie rockers’ last studio effort was 2018’s How to Socialize and Make Friends, and the intervening years have included a solo album from vocalist Georgia Maq, Pleaser, as well as loosies such as the pop tune “Someone Stranger.” Camp Cope reunited in the studio during the pandemic, and their latest release flexes some of the freedom that Maq found in pop. The guitars on “Blue” are sunny and bright, even as the lyrics scan clouds on the horizon. “Phone in my hand, still checking if you called,” Maq sings. “I’m double texting. No, I’ve never been cool/ And I’ll burn that bridge when I get to it. Yeah, I’m on fire.” Speaking of fire, Maq’s voice still sizzles like no one else in DIY. Advertiseme...

JORDY Drops Debut Album Mind Games: Stream

JORDY has unveiled his debut album Mind Games via 300 Entertainment. Stream it below on Apple Music and Spotify. Containing singles “Till It Hurts” and “If He’s in Your Bed,” the 12-track collection confirms the 25-year-old’s role as one of the most promising new voices in pop. JORDY’s lyrics are filled with disarming observations on everything from finding faraway connection on dating apps (breakout TikTok hit “Long Distance”) and overcoming body dysmorphia amid the vanity of the L.A. gay scene (the powerful “Dressed Up in a T-Shirt”) to the desire to sometimes leave it all behind for a different kind of life (lovely, guitar-strewn closer “South Dakota”). Thank Announce Debut Album Thoughtless Cruelty, Share “Good Boy”: Stream

UK noise rock act Thank have announced their debut full-length album, Thoughtless Cruelty. The band also shared the lead single “Good Boy” ahead of the LP’s February 4th release date. Not for the faint of heart, Thank unleash a three-minute torrent of abstract expression. Unhinged dance beats clash with the equally unhinged vocals of Freddy Vinehill-Cliffe, whose delivery bears similarities to Daughters’ Alexis Marshall. The band manages to create an art-rock cacophony that’s as anxious as it is captivating. Perhaps it was Thank’s method of writing — partly forced upon them by the circumstances of the pandemic — that led to the genuinely beguiling sound heard on “Good Boy.” Due to lockdowns, the band members hadn’t practiced before recording the album, building the song arrangeme...

Picking up where they left off with the 2020 Dead & Gone comeback EP, “I Am Nothing” showcases frontman Christopher Hall’s passionate vocals over a driving beat. Brooding, downbeat subject matter is again the name of the game. Chasing Ghosts, which arrives March 18th, features new songs alongside reworked versions of the tracks on the Dead & Gone EP. That release saw the reunion of founding members Hall and Walter Flakus (keys/programming), with guitarist Carlton Bost and drummer Bobby Amaro rounding out the current lineup. Slipknot Unleash New Song “The Chapeltown Rag”: Stream

Slipknot have offered up a brand-new single ahead of their upcoming album. The new song is titled “The Chapeltown Rag” and can be streamed below. While five years went by between the band’s previous two albums, 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter and 2019’s We Are Not Your Kind, time off the road due to the pandemic allowed Slipknot to quickly hit the studio after the release of the latter. Last album cycle, Slipknot first released the one-off single “All Out Life,” which ultimately was not included on the tracklist to We Are Not Your Kind, so there’s no guarantee that “The Chapeltown Rag” will appear on the forthcoming album.
