Injury Reserve Share Trippy New Track “Superman That”: Stream

Injury Reserve are releasing their highly-anticipated sophomore album, By the Time I Get to Phoenix, in just a couple of weeks. The alt hip-hop group has already shared the record’s lead single, “Knees,” and today, they’re following it up with “Superman That” and an accompanying music video. “Superman That” sees Injury Reserve moving in an experimental direction, fueled by crunchy beats and a nearly-indistinguishable time signature. To top it off, Ritchie with a T’s melodic vocals are doused in Auto-Tune, making the track feel almost otherworldly. Its video, directed by Injury Reserve producer Parker Corey, is full of equally disorienting visuals. Check out the “Superman That” clip below. By the Time I Get to Phoenix, the follow-up to Injury Reserve’s 2019 self-titled debut, is due ou...

Rosalía Teams with Tokischa for New Song “Linda”: Stream

Rosalía has joined forces with rising Dominican dembow artist Tokischa for a collaborative single called “Linda.” They’ve also shared a steamy music video for the track. While Rosalía is one of the biggest names in Latin music, Tokischa is one of the most controversial. Still, the latter’s rebellious, authentic nature and unique blend of trap and dancehall sounds has drawn plenty of positive attention in the music world. Speaking in a recent interview for an outlet in the Dominican Republic (via a press release), Rosalía said of her collaborator, “Tokischa is an irreverent woman, a woman who speaks frankly and isn’t afraid to make people uncomfortable. Tokischa is a woman who is going to make a big impact just based on the message that she gives and what she represents. She is a woman who ...

The Doors’ L.A. Woman Gets 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, Hear “Riders on the Storm” Demo: Stream

The Doors’ final studio album, L.A. Woman, turned 50 earlier this year, and that golden anniversary is now being celebrated with a new deluxe edition. Arriving December 3rd from Rhino, the L.A. Woman (50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) will include three CDs and one LP. The vinyl will include the original stereo mix remaster of the classic record, while the first CD will include that same mix plus two bonus tracks: a 1969 demo of “Hyacinth House” captured in Robby Krieger’s home studio, and an early demo of “Riders on the Storm” recorded at Sunset Sound studios. That latter track was only recently uncovered, recently found on an unmarked tape reel in The Doors’ vault long after it was considered a lost relic. This version of “Riders on the Storm” was recorded with producer Paul A. Rothc...

The Psychedelic Furs Share New Song “Evergreen”: Stream

Last year, The Psychedelic Furs made a worth-the-wait comeback with Made of Rain, their first proper album in almost three decades. Over a year after its release, the post-punk icons are finally hitting the road again; to rev up the excitement around the upcoming Made of Rain tour, The Psychedelic Furs have shared the single “Evergreen.” “Evergreen” is a leftover track from the Made of Rain recording sessions, produced by the band alongside studio wiz David Maurice and Guns ‘n’ Roses’ Richard Fortus. Built atop cocophonus guitars, the song feels right in line with the moody, shoegazey direction the band took on Made of Rain. Vocalist Richard Butler describes it as “a song about memory and the passing of time.” Listen to “Evergreen” below. The Psychedelic Furs’ 2021 tour kicks off this mont...

DJ Shadow Announces 25th Anniversary Endtroducing….. Reissue

DJ Shadow is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his debut album, Endtroducing….., with a new vinyl reissue. The freshly remastered version of the landmark effort is slated for a September 24th release via Island. Originally released on September 16th, 1996, the LP featured singles like “Midnight in a Perfect World,” “Stem,” “What Does Your Soul Look Like (Part 1),” and “The Number Song”/”Painkiller.” The album initially caught on in the UK, where the American producer had established himself as a rising act, before eventually reaching a wider audience in Shadow’s home country. Across the album’s 13 tracks, Shadow sampled everything from Metallica’s “Orion” and Tangerine Dream’s “Invisible Limits” to “Love Suite” by Nirvana and Björk’s “Possibly Maybe.” “I was so happy to have recently dis...

Andy Shauf Shares New Single “Spanish on the Beach”: Stream

Andy Shauf has shared the new single “Spanish on the Beach,” and — big news for Shauficionados — it seemingly makes a reference to Judy, a recurring character from his excellent 2020 concept album The Neon Skyline. The stories of The Neon Skyline unfolded over one night, and while that record benefitted from such a limited scope, it meant that some of Shauf’s more expansive ideas landed on the cutting room floor. That was true of the B-sides he shared last summer, “Judy,” and “Jeremy’s Wedding,” and while it doesn’t sound like “Spanish on the Beach” was ever intended for Skyline, it does look at the Judyverse from a few thousand miles away. “Spanish on the Beach” takes place at an all-inclusive resort, as the narrator’s partner tries out a bit of Spanish. “I t...

Johnny Marr Announces Double Album Fever Dreams Pts 1-4, Shares “Spirit, Power and Soul”: Stream

The legend Johnny Marr has announced Fever Dreams Pts 1-4, a double album that will be released as four separate EPs. Fever Dreams Pt 1 arrives October 15th, and as a preview the former The Smiths guitarist has shared the new song “Spirit, Power and Soul.” Fever Dreams Pt 1 is a four-track effort, and the new single doesn’t just open the EP, it also sets the mood for the three EPs to follow. As Marr said in a statement, “‘Spirit, Power and Soul’ is a kind of mission statement. I had an idea about an electro sound with gospel feeling, in my own words… an electro soul anthem.” “Spirit, Power and Soul” rolls along like a high-speed train, powered by heartbeat drums and chugging electric guitars. “Now, time has come,” Marr sings. “Spirit, power, and soul/ And...

Duran Duran Unveil New Single “ANNIVERSARY”: Stream

With Duran Duran’s upcoming album, FUTURE PAST, arriving in October, the new wave veterans have unveiled the latest preview, titled “ANNIVERSARY.” Stream it below. Co-produced by the band with British DJ and producer Erol Alkan, “ANNIVERSARY” contains hints of previous Duran Duran hits meant to be Easter eggs for fans to uncover. “‘ANNIVERSARY’ is a special song for us. Obviously we were conscious of our own impending 40th anniversary of making music together, but we wanted the song’s meaning to be inclusive in the broadest possible way,” bassist John Taylor explained in a statement. “After playing and working together for so long, we very much appreciate what ‘being together’ and ‘staying together’ can really mean, it’s not something we would have thought song-worthy 40 years ago but we d...

Additionally, Peggy has announced a 2021 US tour, which will be followed by a 2022 European trek. LP4 will be the rapper/producer’s first full-length since 2019’s All My Heroes Are Cornballs. “TRUST!” has a bright beat that bounces back and forth like a plinko game, with lyrics that show a serious lack of the title word. “I can’t believe that shit,” he says, “I don’t believe that bitch/ I don’t believe these n****s, bruh, they be lyin’.” Check it out below. Few details are available for LP4, but it’s expected this fall, and...

Maisie Peters Unveils Debut Album You Signed Up For This: Stream

Rising pop singer Maisie Peters has released her debut studio album You Signed Up For This. Stream it below on Apple Music and Spotify. Led by singles “Psycho” and the underrated “John Hughes Movie,” the British pop upstart’s debut arrives on Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man Records and finds her reminiscing on everything from nights spent clubbing with fake IDs (“Brooklyn”) and hungover late-night train rides (“Elvis Song”) to finding yourself on the losing side of a love triangle (“Villain”) and the crushing realization of being gaslit by a crush (standout cut “Outdoor Pool”). While Sheeran’s personal mentorship is evident in the 21-year-old’s luminescent, hook-filled songcraft on tracks like “I’m Trying (Not Friends),” sassy kiss-off “Boy,” and the anthemic title track, her incisive lyricis...
