Polo G’s “For My Fans (Freestyle)” Remixes “Beat Box”, “Whoopty”, and “No More Parties”: Stream

Standout Chicago rapper Polo G has dropped a new freestyle taking on beats from three of the hottest songs in hip-hop: “Beat Box” by SpotemGottem, “Whoopty” by CJ, and “No More Parties by Coi Leray. You can stream “For My Fans (Freestyle)” below. The track arrives with an accompanying Ryan Lynch-directed music video which was shot in three cities associated with the respective rappers. Polo G performs his SpotemGottem freestyle in Miami, remixes CJ’s drill anthem in Brooklyn, and slows it down over Leray’s smoother jam in Atlanta, Georgia. On the first two parts of the freestyle, Polo issues a fiery warning to anyone who tries to step in his way, but he also takes a moment to reflect on his major come-up over the past few years. “When I stepped in the game, they like ‘Wait a minute’ / Now ...

The quintet will release their self-titled debut album on April 30th via member Ryan Graveface’s Graveface Records. Graveface and Savill then recorded the barebones structure of the tracks in Savannah, just two weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. After Flaming Lips drummer Matt Duckworth added his contributions, Clarke was able to add harmonies and other ...

Thom Yorke Gives “Creep” a Acoustic Remix for Japanese Fashion Show: Watch

Thom Yorke notoriously hates “Creep”, but he apparently loves fashion enough to overlook his distaste for the classic track. The Radiohead frontman provided a haunting new acoustic remix of the Pablo Honey single for a recent Japanese fashion show. The nearly nine-minute version of “Creep” was mixed as the featured song for Jun Takahashi’s fall 2021 collection “Creep Very”, which was part of Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo. Touching on why the song was the perfect fit for his new line, Takahashi told Vogue, “The theme is of a person who is frail and weak but has a truly pure heart.” Here, “Creep” is a drawn-out, ghost of a tune, acoustic guitar strumming steadily over droning synths and Yorke’s digitally crackling vocals. You can take a listen by watching the “Creep Very” show via Takahashi’s U...

Greta Van Fleet Share New Song “Broken Bells”: Stream

Greta Van Fleet are prepping for the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, The Battle at Garden’s Gate, out April 16th. Now the band has shared the anthemic new single, “Broken Bells”. A coming-of-age song of sorts, the track again sees Greta Van Fleet expanding their sonic palette beyond the restrictive classic-rock pastiche of their debut record. The prog-like Rush influences and subtle folk flourishes add new colors to the band’s sound. For the third consecutive single, Greta Van Fleet push the song past the five-minute mark as they stretch their musical ideas. “Broken Bells is what the fetter of society does to impact a pure and innocent soul,” bassist Sam Kiszka said in a press release. “Our intention is to remove the obligation of generational synthetic expectations; b...

Benny the Butcher and Harry Fraud Unveil New Album The Plugs I Met 2: Stream

Benny the Butcher has linked up with producer Harry Fraud for the new album The Plugs I Met 2. Stream it below via Apple Music or Spotify. The Butcher has been cutting new albums left and right, recently dropping the Hit-Boy collab Burden of Proof and the soundtrack to the Griselda Records film Conflicted. That doesn’t even count Trust the Sopranos, the upcoming compilation LP he’ll be using to show off his Black Soprano Family roster. During this run he’s joined forces with all sorts of producers, but few have fit his strengths as naturally as Harry Fraud. Mr. Fraud broke out in 2009 as French Montana’s secret weapon, and in the intervening years he’s built a reputation as someone who can turn obscure samples into straight-up bangers. Benny and Harry pre...

Warpaint Cover “Paralysed” for Gang of Four Tribute Album: Stream

As previously announced, Gang of Four co-founder Andy Gill was working on a retrospective of the band’s album  Entertainment! before he tragically passed away last year. To carry on his work, Gill’s widow Catherine Mayer organized an impressive tribute album in his honor featuring cover songs by a wide range of artists. Today, she’s sharing one of her favorite cuts: “Paralysed” as played by Warpaint. For their contribution to The Problem of Leisure: A Celebration of Andy Gill and Gang of Four, Warpaint use their trademark take on atmospheric pop to give “Paralysed” a haunting vocal performance, speckled guitar work, and one slinky bass line. Warpaint’s bassist, Jenny Lee, produced the track, which may explain why it has a similar feel to her solo album right on!. In a press release, L...

Alice Phoebe Lou Releases New Album Glow: Stream

The 12-track effort includes the previously released singles, “Dusk” and “Dirty Mouth”. It finds the Berlin-based singer-songwriter embracing newfound vulnerability through her lyrics. In a statement, our former Artist of the Month detailed how falling in love and then having her heart broken during 2020 inspired the record, writing, “I used to feel quite self-conscious about writing love songs, but now I like the idea that your music can be a friend to someone, and make them feel as though they’re being related to. This album simply poured out of my heart and my subconscious, and there was no stopping the lovestruck nature ...

Alex Lahey Shreds on Cover of Faith Hill’s “This Kiss”: Stream

Australian indie rocker Alex Lahey has shared her own take on Faith Hill’s classic 1998 hit, “This Kiss”. Stream the cover below via Amazon Music. For her version of the country pop ballad, Lahey slightly speeds up the tempo and replaces the acoustic guitar with an electric. The cover transforms “This Kiss” into a straightforward rock tune and it absolutely shreds. “For years, I’ve had this big idea of doing an indie rock cover of Faith Hill’s ‘This Kiss,’ Lahey shared in a statement. “Two key changes, that iconic chorus, a million vocal harmonies — what more could you want? It was such a treat pulling this together with my mates Oscar and Jess as we navigated the depths of Melbourne’s lockdown last year and I’m so stoked that Amazon Music are putting it out perfectly timed with ...

Peaches Shares New Song “Pussy Mask”, NSFW Animated Video: Watch

Last year, the Canadian electronic artist Peaches released a handful of singles that marked her first new material since her 2015 album Rub. One of them was a particularly fervent protest song called “Flip This”, and now she’s back with an even more, uh, direct song titled “Pussy Mask”. The 54-year-old has never shied away from provocative imagery and explicit lyrical topics (some of her album titles are Fatherfucker and Impeach My Bush), but “Pussy Mask” still manages to shock with its over-the-top descriptions of moist genitalia. If that brief description made you squirm in your seat, I promise that it pails in comparison to Peaches’ graphic lyrics about the song’s namesake. What’s more, its accompany music video doesn’t leave anything to the imagination. It’s an animated visual tha...

J Balvin Unveils New Single “Tu Veneno”: Stream

Late last month, J Balvin gave us a preview of his as-yet-untitled new album with a song called “Ma’ G”. Now, the reggaetón superstar is back with a new bop called “Tu Veneno”. The release of this one is a little less bombastic than “Ma’ G”‘s unveiling, which premiered during a titanic boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Avni Yildirim. “Tu Veneno” (which translates to “your poison” in English) is arriving under more normal circumstances, but it’s an equally catchy and dance-able slice of reggaetón gold. Take a listen below. There’s still no word on what Balvin’s upcoming album will be called or when it will arrive, but those details will likely emerge in the coming weeks. When it does finally surface, the record will be Balvin’s first full-length since his massively successful 2020 alb...
