Lil Nas X Shares League of Legends World Championship Official Anthem “STAR WALKIN’”: Stream

Not only is Lil Nas X one of the most fascinating mainstream pop stars in recent history, but he can now add President of League of Legends to his resume. To celebrate the video game’s upcoming World Championship, the rapper has today shared its official 2022 anthem “STAR WALKIN’.” Flipping between EDM synths and a stuttering trap beat, “STAR WALKIN’” isn’t quite up to par with, say, “Industry Baby.” While it’s not exactly memorable, it’s precisely the type of song you’d expect to hear at an event like the League of Legends World Championship. And Lil Nas X’s personality does poke through at some points. There’s a few fun quips here, like “Been that n**** since I came out my mama/ Thanking God Daddy never wore a condom.” We respect the confidence! Watch the animated music video ...

Haviah Mighty Revels in Excess on New Song “Honey Bun”: Stream

Haviah Mighty has returned with “Honey Bun,” a moody new song about the surface-level pleasures of fame. Listen to the track below. Produced by Bizness Boi and Derelle Rideout, “Honey Bun” represents the mentality of always wanting more once you experience success. In a press release, Mighty explained that after a breakup, she turned to the material benefits of her rising rap career for comfort, only to realize that owning a bunch of Prada and Balenciaga can only make you so happy. “The end of this relationship was the end of stability and certainty for a time. It broke my trust. It meant that my value system around building relationships had completely changed. Where I once sought authenticity in a new connection, I found my desires were only surface,” Mighty recalled. “I pivoted har...

Spoon Announce Remix Album Lucifer on the Moon, Share New Version of “On the Radio”: Stream

Spoon are keeping the momentum going on their latest album Lucifer on the Sofa with a full-album rework called Lucifer on the Moon, with all remixes done by Adrian Sherwood. Before the full album is out November 4th, the Austin band have shared a preview today with the new version of “On the Radio.” Spoon’s initial plan was to have Sherwood remix only a few tracks off Lucifer on the Sofa. But one thing led to another, and like a snowball effect of dub-influenced-indie rock the musicians found themselves with a track-by-track remix on their hands. “I got into the melody and the thoughts it evoked in me,” Sherwood explains in a press release. “It just evolved and we eventually found ourselves with a whole album.” Advertisement Related Video The producer takes “On the Radio” from a ...

Nilüfer Yanya Finds Romance in Cover of PJ Harvey’s “Rid of Me”: Stream

Nilüfer Yanya has released her first solo single post-PAINLESS with a cover of PJ Harvey’s “Rid of Me,” the roaring opener to her 1993 LP that shares the same name. The London native’s new take opens up the song’s overbearing “you’re not rid of me” refrain into an almost endearing plea to stay together, but like its predecessor, the obsessive adoration comes undone with a crushing, distortion-heavy climax. The track’s typically spare production has always made it the perfect canvas for Harvey to impress upon her distinctive vocals, and Yanya fully embraces the opportunity with her own unique, soulful delivery. It’s a warmer, yet wounded, interpretation, which fits perfectly considering Yanya’s read of the song as “very romantic despite what some of the lyrics get at.” In a statement, Yanya...

Alice Glass Has Her “Lips Apart” on New Single: Stream

In the midst of her North American tour, Alice Glass has shared a new one-off single called “Lips Apart.” The new track arrives over half a year after Glass delivered her solo debut full-length, PREY//IV. “Lips Apart” is haunting and sweeping, relatively minimalist over a thudding, industrial beat and creeping electronics. Producer by Jupiter io and Matt Rad, the track depicts a lonely, broken Glass as she sings, “Is this the way it hurts/ Is this the way it happens/ Is this the way, I don’t feel anything/ Lips apart.” Glass has been performing the song live for a few years now, and those who have caught her recent shows likely are already familiar with the cut. You can listen to the final studio version of “Lips Apart” below, and get a chance to hear it live by picking up tickets to Alice...

Wet Leg Add More 2022-2023 Tour Dates, Share Cover of Ashnikko’s “Daisy”: Stream

Even though Wet Leg have spent most of the year thus far on the road, it doesn’t look like they plan on slowing down anytime soon: The British indie rockers have scheduled more shows for late 2022 and summer 2023. Additionally, they’ve unveiled their cover of Ashnikko’s hit “Daisy” as part of the Spotify Singles series. Wet Leg will headline four shows in New York this December at four different iconic venues: Webster Hall, Bowery Ballroom, Elsewhere, and Music Hall of Williamsburg. After supporting a run on Harry Styles’ “Love on Tour” earlier this year, they’ll reunite with the pop star again next summer as they open his shows throughout the UK and Europe. While Ashnikko’s original “Daisy” is a trap-pop jam, Wet Leg give the tune an alt-rock spin that’s still just as infectious. The othe...

Jamie xx Drops Caribbean-Inspired Banger “KILL DEM”: Stream

Jamie xx has returned with the disco-infused “KILL DEM,” his second new song of the year. Take a listen to the track below. Backed by a shuffling, dance floor-ready beat, “KILL DEM” was inspired by the Notting Hill Carnival, a long-running annual Caribbean festival that Jamie began attending as a teenager growing up in London. The event is known for its vibrant parade, booming sound systems, and lively parties, all of which you can sense in the energy of the track. “I started making [“KILL DEM”] at a time when we weren’t sure when we were going to be able to do stuff,” Jamie said in a press release. “I was looking forward to the day when I could get back to what I love. It was one of those ones that happens quite instantly and that’s kind of rare for me these days. It happened within almos...

Wolfgang Van Halen Announces Deluxe Edition of Debut Mammoth WVH Album, Shares “Talk & Walk”: Stream

Mammoth WVH’s 2021 self-titled debut album is receiving a digital deluxe edition on November 11th with three additional songs, including the Japanese-only bonus track “Talk & Walk” that is now streaming. Considering Wolfgang Van Halen spent many years self-recording the album, it makes sense that there’s a few worthy additional tracks. “Talk & Walk” is a particularly fun tune, shifting from twinkly arpeggios to grungy ’90s power-pop that harkens back to early Foo Fighters. According to the press release, the song was occasionally played during Mammoth WVH’s 2021 tour and became an immediate fan favorite. While “Talk & Walk” was previously released on the Japanese version of the album, the other two additional songs on the deluxe edition (“As Long As You’re Not You” and “Goodbye...

Noga Erez Sharpens “Nails” with Missy Elliott Remix: Stream

Noga Erez has polished up her early summer single “Nails” with a new remix featuring Missy Elliott. Stream the shredding new rendition below. The track begins with the familiar finger-tap rhythm from the original Rousso production along with Noga Erez’s hypnotic hook, “I’ll bump a bitch/ Flesh pieces in my nails.” Missy Elliott picks it up from there and goes on a tear: “See these nails these acrylics/ Try miss I go ballistic/ You step to Miss I’mma give you ten licks.” After sharpening up the shout-out-loud chorus together, the two trade hometown lines with Missy’s “I’m from VA/ We don’t play that down South,” followed by the Israeli singer’s reply, “I’m from TA/ Missy you should check it out.” Advertisement Related Video The collaboration is a long time coming for Erez, who admitted in a...
