BLACKSTARKIDS and beabadoobee Send a “CYBERKISS 2 U*” on New Song: Stream

Ahead of their new project CYBERKISS*, BLACKSTARKIDS have shared “CYBERKISS 2 U*,” a new track featuring their Dirty Hit labelmate beabadoobee. Listen to the single below. Where last month’s “SEX APPEAL” was all swaggering hip-hop, “CYBERKISS 2 U*” leans more into hyperpop, with BLACKSTARKIDS and beabadoobee’s vocals tuned up chipmunk style over a saccharine electronic melody. “Takes me back, when you said I can make you better,” they sing. “You make me feel good, I hope I feel this way forever.” “We were inspired by electronic and colorful music from our childhood like Daft Punk and Jamiroquai,” BLACKSTARKIDS said in a statement about the track. “Also New York culture in general, the scene that kids have going on down there played a big role in how we wanted our music to sound. Worki...

Brian Eno Further Addresses Climate Change on New Song “We Let It In”: Stream

Brian Eno has shared “We Let It In,” the latest preview of his upcoming solo album, FOREVERANDEVERNOMORE. Featuring backing vocals from his daughter Darla Eno, “We Let It In” follows in the footsteps of the first single “There Were Bells” by continuing to address the global climate emergency. As Darla Eno alternates between chanting the words “sun” and “deep,” Brian Eno sings in a lowered delivery reflecting the morose subject matter: “We open to the blinding sky and let it in/ With open hearts through burning fields/ The soul of it in gorgeous flame.” The accompanying lyric video was co-directed by Eno with London-based multidisciplinary artist Orfeo Tagiuri and features handwriting by Eno’s granddaughter Anya. The Cult Detail New Album Under the Midnight Sun, Share “A Cut Inside”: Stream

The Cult have unveiled their latest single, “A Cut Inside,” and the full tracklist from their upcoming 11th album, Under the Midnight Sun. Sharp distortion slashes open “A Cut Inside” to reveal the song’s scorned underbelly, in which frontman Ian Astbury rebukes a deceitful higher power by singing, “We will never be/ Caught in your belief/ Get up off your knees.” The track then bursts like a revelation as the chorus testifies to a harsh, but more honest, reality: “No heathens in Heaven/ No sweet surrender/ Outsiders forever/ The ghost of our lives.” “A Cut Inside” is paired with a fiery visualizer directed by frequent collaborator Juan Azulay, in which a swirling collage of cool blues and purples obscure the band until seething lava flows erupt and cover the palette with violent reds, fire...

Flogging Molly Share “A Song of Liberty” in Support of Ukraine: Stream

As long as there’s war, there’ll be protest songs. Flogging Molly is the latest example of that theory, as the Celtic punks have returned today with the new single “A Song of Liberty.” Not only is the song raising funds for refugee aid in Ukraine, but it also spotlights the work of Ukrainian animators/filmmakers The Mad Twins in its accompanying music video. “A Song of Liberty” isn’t just about the occupation of Ukraine, however. Its inspiration traces all the way back to the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland and through both World Wars. Ultimately, it represents humanity’s constant fight against oppression: “It’s a song of freedom, which I wrote as a recounting of a dark period in Irish history,” the band’s Dave King says in a press release. “But suddenly the injustice, and the fight against ...

Courtney Marie Andrews Reminds Us “These Are the Good Old Days” with New Single: Stream

Courtney Marie Andrews returns today with the new single “These Are the Good Old Days,” the latest single off her upcoming album Loose Future. It arrives with an accompanying music video, as well as newly-added tour dates in the UK and EU through 2023. Andrews said she wanted to release a “feel-good song,” and “These Are the Good Old Days” is just what the doctor ordered. Backed by a simple instrumental arrangement, the song is a placid ode to living in the moment, and a gentle reminder that dwelling on the past or catastrophizing the future are rarely beneficial: “People like me think feelings are facts/ Falling in love gives us a heart attack/ One foot in the future, one in the past/ Wanna know for sure if it’s gonna last,” Andrews sings. “‘These are the good old days’ is a saying m...

Brandi Carlile Announces In These Silent Days Acoustic Re-Release In the Canyon Haze

Just in time for its first anniversary, Brandi Carlile is giving her most recent album In These Silent Days an update: The folk singer will re-record an acoustic version of the album song-by-song, titled In the Canyon Haze. Before it’s out on September 28th, Carlile has offered a preview with the new version of “You and Me on the Rock.” The idea for In the Canyon Haze came about when Carlile was pondering a deluxe edition of Silent Days. Rather than tacking on a few bonus tracks, she figured: Why not make the entire album a bonus? The album keeps the original’s tracklist with the exception of a cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.” As for the new album’s title, Carlile cites the rootsy, bohemian spirit of the Laurel Canyon music scene. Pre-orders are ongoing....

Dying Fetus Unleash “Compulsion for Cruelty,” First New Song in Five Years: Stream

Dying Fetus have shared their first new song in five years, “Compulsion for Cruelty,” ahead of their upcoming North American tour. The new track should satiate those who’ve been desperate for some new Dying Fetus music. All the veteran death metal band’s signature sonic trademarks are in the mix here, from superhuman blastbeat drumming to gnarly guttural vocals. Some beefy chug-a-lug riffs prop up the satisfying breakdowns in the middle of the song. The single also comes with a visceral performance clip, ostensibly shot on-location at a Dying Fetus show. It should be enough to get fans fired up for the upcoming tour, as the crowd is in full mosh form for the duration of “Compulsion for Cruelty.” Advertisement Related Video The North American outing will see Dying Fetus playing their own he...

A$AP Rocky Teases New Song “OUR DE$TINY” with Playboi Carti

A$AP Rocky has had a lot on his plate recently, so we don’t blame him for putting music on the back burner for now. But as we wait on his long-awaited next studio album — which, allegedly, will feature a bunch of Morrissey — Rocky is holding fans over today with a preview of a new track called “OUR DE$TINY” that features Playboi Carti. The track is built off a woozy beat, psychedelic instrumentals, and sample of soulful background singers. Carti kicks things off: “I was born like this, I cannot fall,” he raps, before Rocky comes in. There’s also a video accompanying the song, which appears to compile footage of the rappers out on the road. There’s even some clips of Rocky in a limousine with, of all people, Beck — perhaps the Red Hot Chili Peppers introduced them? We’ll keep you posted for...
