How Motez’s Experiences as a Refugee in Iraq Have Shaped His Music

Refugees are some of the strongest, most resilient people. They’re tough, determined, and not afraid to chase their dreams. Since Motez began making dance music almost a decade ago, he has consistently explored new sounds and has not held back from diving into deeply philosophical topics about the human condition. Perhaps it’s because he has already overcome some extremely adverse circumstances. Motez was born in Baghdad, where he survived Saddam Hussein’s rule in Iraq and lived through the Gulf War. He eventually moved to Australia in 2006, where he’s lived ever since. Since then, he has emerged as one of Australia’s most inventive music producers, amassing millions of streams and performing at various festivals across the globe. However, despite all the wins, he has never forgotten...

Grammy-Nominated “Cola” Duo Elderbrook and CamelPhat Reunite for New Single, “Body”

Lightning has struck for the third time after CamelPhat and Elderbrook reunited for “Body,” a brand new collaboration from the famed “Cola” artists.  The pair, who were nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording back in 2018 for “Cola,” have once again joined forces for what sounds like another house music classic. The anthemic “Body” picks right up where “Cola” left off, with a disco-inspired funk and house hybrid that could soundtrack an Austin Powers rollerskating scene. That aesthetic is mirrored in the official “Body” music video, a kaleidoscopic, 3D-animated visual depicting the cityscapes of Seoul, Korea. Check it out below. Elderbrook and CamelPhat also joined for...

CloZee and Maddy O’Neal Join Forces on Bass Anthem “Zest Please”

Denver-based producers CloZee and Maddy O’Neal have teamed up to deliver a zesty inaugural collaboration, “Zest Please.” Out via CloZee’s Odyzey Music label, the new track kicks off with a hang drum percussion beat that progressively builds into worldly synths and bass. The chemistry between the two female bass artists is highlighted effortlessly, with CloZee’s classic tribal and earthly percussion underscored by swirls of echoing vocals while O’Neal’s electro bass and funky grooves put the cherry on top of the midtempo anthem. “Zest Please” is accompanied by a colorful animated music video depicting CloZee and O’Neal in a tropical world full of rainbow, luminescent fruits and flora. “Having been a fan and friend of Chloe’s for a while I was excited to finally create...

Everyday’s a “Better Day” With Latest Song from Wh0, Nile Rodgers and Josh Barry

Spring, vaccines and live music are on the way, and there’s no song more reflective of our celebratory mood than “Better Day” by Wh0, Nile Rodgers and Josh Barry. Out today, March 26th via Thrive Music, the single is euphorically atmospheric, dance party-ready, and certain to put a smile on your face.  From Barry’s husky croons to a bouncy, filtered bass-line, “Better Days” is truly the whole package when it comes to uplifting disco-pop. Wh0’s roots in deep house can be heard throughout, and the song’s drop and chorus are driven by Rodgers’ tried-and-true guitar prowess. In fact, Rodgers was recently featured on SG Lewis‘ “One More.” Along with his solo work, Barry is known for his contributions to tracks by ...

Jason Ross and Blanke Collide on Melodic Anthem “One More Day” With Chandler Leighton

Jason Ross has established himself as a prolific multi-faceted producer, as he’s found success with both his trance singles as well as his melodic bass tunes. Today, the Ophelia Records mainstay has tapped EDM.com Class of 2021 inductee Blanke for their collaborative effort “One More Day” with Chandler Leighton.  The natural synergy of Ross and Blanke’s sounds is apparent throughout the entirety of “One More Day.” Opening with Leighton’s signature airy vocals, an emotive, synth-laden drop soon takes center stage. Shortly after comes a second build-up, where rumbling basses flip the entire track on its head.  The mesmeric ebb and flow of “One More Day” speaks to the main theme of the song, which revolves aro...

Space Laces Continues Triumphant Return With Bass House Beast, “Dominate”: Listen

Earlier this month, Never Say Die favorite Space Laces ended his yearlong hiatus with his revolutionary Vaultage 003 mix that featured 21 previously unheard tunes. After receiving a resounding stamp of approval from the electronic music community, the fabled bass music producer returns with one of the aforementioned unreleased tunes, entitled “Dominate.”  “Dominate” is relentless right from the start, yet it takes a different route than what fans have come to expect from Space Laces. Kicking off with a crisp percussive intro, a myriad of frenetic samples leads listeners into a ruthless bass house drop. The second drop cuts into half-time, decimating listeners with an onslaught of glitchy synths and saturated kicks.  While “Dominate” i...

SLANDER Drops New Melodic Bass Single “When I’m With You” on Their Heaven Sent Imprint

In October 2020, prominent bass music duo SLANDER launched their own Heaven Sent imprint in addition to their co-owned Gud Vibrations label with NIGHTMRE. As an outlet for their more melodic side, the idea behind the new banner was to release “emotional music sent from above.” SLANDER continues to execute on that theme with their newest single “When I’m With You.” Joining forces with Milwaukee producer Synymata and singer-songwriter neverwaves, the feel-good tune is dynamic, impassioned, and endlessly playable. The track opens with placid acoustic guitar riffs and the emotional vocals of neverwaves before cranking up the energy with captivating synths. The bass-heavy drop combines hard-hitting drums with euphoric sound design for an emotionally rich, yet head-banging beat. “...

Wolfgang Van Halen Shares ‘Don’t Back Down’ and ‘Think It Over’ Singles

Many were brought to tears thanks to “Distance,” the Wolfgang Van Halen song and video that paid poignant tribute to his late father Eddie Van Halen, but two new songs from Wolf’s upcoming Mammoth WVH — “Don’t Back Down” and “Think It Over” — showcase a different side of the musician who we named one of the best new artists of 2020. “Think It Over” is “a song that Wolfgang wanted to share to showcase the diversity of the album,” according to a release. Van Halen wrote all of the songs and performed all of the instrumentation and vocals for the debut album, and that’s reflected in the clever video for “Don’t Back Down,” a scorching rocker. Check out the clip for that song below. [embedded content] Listen to “Think It Over” below. The self-titled, long-awaited debut lands June 11 via  E...

Fans of the Australian DJ and producer have been patiently awaiting the release of the track, which has been a much-requested ID throughout his livestreams this past year. Message boards have been flooded with people asking about the “car alarm track,” and now the wait is finally over after “Pump The Brakes” arrived today via RCA Records.  “Pump The Brakes” feels like a clear progression from his breakout single “Take It” which came out back in 2018. Tobtok, HUGEL and Love Harder Team Up for Lovesick Dance-Pop Anthem, “My Bed” [Premiere]

In a collaboration of grand proportions, Love Harder, HUGEL, and Tobtok have joined forces for “My Bed,” a sultry dance-pop record that will soon arrive by way of fabled dance music banner Ultra Music. Premiered today via EDM.com, “My Bed” is primed for Spotify domination due to its foot-tapping slap house arrangement. However, it’s the track’s storytelling that really shines through. In a post-cuffing season anthem for the lovelorn, the aching song tells the story of a lovesick person who can’t sleep without the comfort of their ride-or-die. RBVLN does a brilliant job with the topline, offering a stentorian vocal that mirrors the pop-house energy of music by Imanbek or Topic. His work in the chorus is something to marvel at, as it fl...
