Run The Jewels shared a remix of “ooh la la” by Mexican Institute of Sound with an additional verse by Santa Fe Klan. The single picks up Cumbia and Mariachi influences in the remix. Behind Mexican Institute of Sound is Camilo Lara, a Grammy-nominated artist and producer known for his work with Band of Horses and Norah Jones, along with remixes for Beck, Morrissey, Beastie Boys and more. “Making the global dance floor a united, inclusive, banging space where everyone is welcome is the mission that connects me with RTJ,” Lara said in a statement. “Inviting Santa Fe Klan on this adventure was crucial: his voice brings together Guanajuato, Brooklyn, Ciudad de México, Atlanta. Shame have unveiled their new album Drunk Tank Pink. Stream it below via Apple Music and Spotify. The record marks the sophomore release from the UK post-punk band, following the 2018 album Songs of Praise. The 11-track effort was initially announced back in November of last year, and it was preceded by three very strong singles — “Snow Day”, “Alphabet”, and “Water in the Well”. Unlike other loud-mouthed British contemporaries like Sleaford Mods and IDLES, Shame’s take on The Fall-inspired rock is a little less scraggly and a bit more polished. However, these shout-along melodies and taut grooves are balanced by cerebral lyrical concepts and grandiose music videos, so they’re by no means making music that’s devoid of challenging material. Editors’ Picks Drunk Tank Pink was produ...
AFI have unleashed two new songs — “Twisted Tongues” and “Escape From Los Angeles” — ahead of a new album planned for 2021. Both tracks can be heard in the visualizers below. The two new songs mark the veteran California rock act’s first new music since they dropped the five song EP The Missing Man in December 2018. When a new LP arrives, it will be the band’s first since 2017’s AFI (The Blood Album). “Twisted Tongues” explores AFI’s goth-rock side, while “Escape From Los Angeles” gives off more of a punk vibe — both highlighted by singer Davey Havok’s signature haunting vocals. “As I recall, ‘Twisted Tongues’ came of the Blood era and was the first piece of music we explored on the new album,” Havok explained of “Twisted Tongues” in a press release. “The dreaminess of the music lyrically ...

It’s unclear if the 2020s will have the Gatsby-esque excess of the 1920s, but nothing we’ve heard in 2021 screams for a wild party quite like the “Woah, Kenny!” tag over a sample of Fiddler on the Roof. Get on that level with Flo Milli, who has teamed up with Kenny Beats for her crackerjack new song “Roaring 20s”. Flo Milli erupted last year on her debut mixtape Ho, why is you here? With more hooks than a casting call for Peter Pan, the Alabama MC shook the rap world with a pair of surprise hits, “In the Party” and “Beef FloMix”. That success has brought her the attention of higher-profile collaborators. Kenny Beats has developed a reputation for working with rappers on the rise, and just in the last few years he’s joined forces with Freddie Gibbs, Vince Staples, Rico Nasty, and ...
AFI is back with their first new tunes since 2018’s The Missing Man EP ahead of the promised release of their upcoming album. After teasing earlier this month that their 11th studio album would be released by the end of the year, the quartet made good on their guarantee of new music “soon” by releasing “Twisted Tongues” and “Escape From Los Angeles” this morning. The two tracks pick up where the band left off following 2017’s self-titled release (also known as The Blood Album) and the aforementioned EP from the following year, with Davey Havok and his longtime crew fusing some experimental new steps into the tried and true AFI formula. It’s no surprise given the band’s evolution from borderline hardcore punk in the ’90s all the way through the emo movement of the 2000s and now bl...
Selena Gomez has unveiled her new Spanish-language single “De Una Vez”, which translates to, “At Once.” Produced by Tanya (Bad Bunny, J Balvin), “De Una Vez” is her first Spanish effort since 2018’s “Taki Taki” with DJ Snake and Ozuna, and it’s her first such solo foray since 2014’s “Más”. The new song comes paired with a video created by Los Pérez—Tania Verduzco and Adrián Pérez. Watch it below. And there’s probably more where that came from; as PopBuzz notes, multiple murals have appeared around Mexico and Brazil with the words “Selena Gomez,” “De Una Vez,” and “Baila Conmigo,” the latter of which means “dance with me.” When fans posted pictures of these murals, Gomez’s social media accounts have been smashing the ‘like’ button. It’s unclear at this time if “Baila Conmigo” is a song...
Never ones to hide their political leanings, Descendents took aim at outgoing President Trump on their new song, “That’s The Breaks,” which they dedicate to the person they call a “Loser. Big time loser. Delusional loser. SORE loser.” A statement by vocalist Milo Aukerman added, “The time has come. The time is now. Just go, go, GO. I don’t care how. Donald J. Trump, will you please go now!” The track follows the politically-charged two-song single “Suffrage,” released ahead of the 2020 general election encouraging voting to take down the Trump administration. Aukerman just doesn’t want Trump to leave office. “I mean crawl back into your hole of hate and live out the rest of your life as a nobody. A loser. Because that’s what you are. Worst. President. Ever.” Giving credence ...

The LP drops Feb. 12 via Monkey Puzzle/Atlantic. It comes with a feature film, which will have a special IMAX release next month. In our new music feature Origins, we give musicians the chance to explore the backstory behind their latest single. Today, Emile Mosseri tells us about composing the score to Lee Isaac Chung’s Minari. To help elevate the intimate storytelling of one of the best films of 2020, Minari, writer-director Lee Isaac Chung turned to composer Emile Mosseri. Mosseri knew well how to write the proper music for a unique family tale, as he had done recently for Miranda July’s Kajillionaire. Audiences will get to hear how he crafted a score befitting Chung’s beautiful American tale itself when Minari and its soundtrack are released wide on February 12th. One of the reasons Mosseri was able to pen such an evocative soundtrack is because of how early he he began working on the process. In what he cal...
Rising Australian songwriter Indigo Sparke has unveiled the new song “Everything Everything”. Alongside an intimate music video, she’s also announced her signing with Sacred Bones Records to release her debut album Echo, out January 29th. As with all the songs on Echo, “Everything Everything” was produced by Andrew Sarlo and Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief. Over a gentle guitar with occasional piano accents, Sparke sings in an ethereal soprano, which she later undercuts with a section of spoken word. “Everything,” she says, “Everything, everything, everything is dying.” In a statement, Sparke explained how the song came together, writing, “I wrote this song not long after coming back from a magical castle in Italy where a group of us had been making music and soaking in the golden honey days....
