The Kills Announce Rarities Album Little Bastards, Share Unreleased Demo “Raise Me”: Stream
The Kills have shared a previously unreleased demo called “Raise Me”. The song is taken from the band’s newly announced rarities collection, Little Bastards, arriving December 11th via Domino. The compilation comprises recordings dating from The Kill’s earliest 7-inch singles in 2002 through 2009. Featuring remastered B-sides, demos, and covers, Little Bastards collects many tracks originally recorded for bonus inclusion on CD singles. As that format vanished in the wake of digital streaming, most of those songs were abandoned — hence the title Little Bastards. Lil Wayne fans have waited years to find out what the “F” in “Weezy F. Baby” really stands for. But apparently it’s… football? Lil Wayne got his head in the game Monday with the release of his new single “NFL,” which is set to be the soundtrack for this season’s Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime Video. The track features Wayne disciples Gudda Gudda and Hoodybaby and will first air during this Thursday’s game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears. The Kills will be bringing fans a treat at the end of the year. The duio will release Little Bastards a new compilation of B-sides and rarities culled from 2002 to 2009. It will include the never-before-heard demo of “Raise Me from the band’s Midnight Boom period; “I Call It Art” from the Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited covers compilation; a performance of “Love Is A Deserter” from an XFM radio session and covers of Howlin’ Wolf’s “Forty Four,” Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put A Spell on You” and Dock Boggs’ “Sugar Baby.” And the LP will be available in CD, digital and LP formats and will be the first-ever vinyl pressing for some of the songs. The track is titled “Day After Day” and it comes from Mitchell’s forthcoming collection Joni Mitchell Archives Vol. 1: The Early Years (1963-1967), which is due out October 30th. Now she’s back with another new version of the song, this one featuring rapper DaBaby. Unlike the Madge and Missy take, which vastly altered the song’s sound for the Club Future Nostalgia remix album, this rendition of “Levitating” isn’t really a remix. The electro-disco vibes, equal parts bubbly and sexy, are very much intact. Greg Puciato Releases Debut Solo Album Early After “Dipshit Reviewer” Leaks It Online
The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato has released his solo debut, Child Soldier: Creator of God, three weeks early after the album was leaked online by a reviewer. Puciato posted the full album Friday (October 2nd) via Bandcamp. It was supposed to drop on October 23rd, but will now arrive on other digital platforms October 9th. In a statement, Puciato revealed that the album was leaked by a music writer who’s been identified. Early online leaks plagued the music industry during the MP3 era, and now most digital album promos are watermarked so they can be traced back to the source of any potential leak. If you’re a fan of My Morning Jacket, then you can spend it reliving the blissful high of jam band concerts, because MMJ have released three previously unavailable career-spanning live albums to Bandcamp. As the band announced on Twitter, the three-show collection spans 58 tracks in total with a 349-minute runtime. Included are My Morning Jacket’s November 10th, 2005 gig at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, California; their November 12th, 2006 concert at The Tabernacle in Atlanta, Georgia; and their August 6th, 2015 set at Ascend Amphitheatre in Nashville, Tennessee.
