As the year comes to a close, we’re finally seeing some of the most highly anticipated collaborations that have been teased all festival-season long. That brings us to today, when Blanke and Deathpact delivered their new single, “Mitosis,” via Deadbeats. The rumbling “Mitosis” perfectly encapsulates both Blanke and Deathpact’s signature sounds, capturing the dark, gritty feel that’s helped cultivate both artists’ loyal fan bases. The euphoric intro quickly takes a dark turn, allowing an onslaught of menacing bass patches and pounding drums to take center stage. Overall, “Mitosis” is a masterfully crafted blend of intoxicating and aggressive elements, and a must-listen for fans of bass music. Both Blanke and Deathpact can...

After first teasing the long-awaited follow-up to their dubstep hit “Griztronics” back in May, GRiZ and Subtronics have now finally delivered the mind-melting sequel we’ve all been waiting for. The duo ultimately delivered on their promise of another heater with “Griztronics II (Another Level).” The build-up hits within the first 30 seconds of the song, followed by the perfect blend of GRiZ and Subtronics’ signature wobbliness. As expected, their respective production expertise has led to another surefire bass anthem and one that is primed to dominate the music festival circuit like its predecessor. In what has been a prolific year for Moore Kismet, somehow they have saved their best for last. Today they dropped their last release of 2021, a stunning single dubbed “Call Of The Unicorn.” Kismet, who recently made history as the youngest artist to ever perform at Chicago’s iconic Lollapalooza festival, produced the track when they were 14 years old. Now 16, the electronic music wunderkind is preparing to release their debut album by unveiling one of its most anticipated singles. There is perhaps no one in the dance music scene more adept at blending the banger with the ballad—a notion reinforced by the hypnotic cadence of the song’s verses and screeching sound design of its drops. And with a stentorian topline from Tasha Baxter at its bedrock, “Ca...
An intricate song originally written and produced in right before the pandemic, “Mean It“ represents a monumental release for both Manila Killa and San Holo. While Holo is still buzzing off the June 2021 release of his sophomore album bb u ok?—with “Mean It“ marking his first single ever since—Manila Killa has had a relatively quiet year so far. Throughout the past 12 months he was enlisted to offer his remix expertise to the likes of Petit Biscuit, juuku and Kasbo, and “Mean It” marks his first original single since last year’s “Closer 2 U“ alongside Slow Magic. Bringing a heavenly indie-pop sonic aesthetic to the table, “Mean It” masterfully combines the two producers’ respective styles into a cohesive mix. While Nick Lopez’s vocals set the tone and tell a story of coping with loss and i...
His enemies thought they’ve seen the last of him, but once again, Kavinsky has risen from the grave. The first single from the renowned French producer’s long-awaited album is finally here. After waiting more than eight years, Kavinsky has unveiled “Renegade,” a collaboration with Cautious Clay and Victor Le Masne and Gaspard Augé of Justice. Showing no signs of rust picked up during his long slumber, he’s delivered another Kavinsky classic. To help detail the pieces of the story that can’t be displayed through his dazzling, retro-inspired sound, Kavinsky released an action-packed music video soundtracked by “Renegade.” Standing atop a high-rise in the big city, like a superhero, Kavinsky surveys...
BLVK JVCK is back with his latest masterstroke, a dubstep banger called “No Love.” Revered for his ferocious “hoodstep” sound and subversive music videos, the renowned electronic music producer, who was named to EDM.com‘s Class of 2021 earlier this year, has unveiled the official music video for his latest single. Dubbed “No Love,” it’s a typically unhinged dubstep anthem oozing with his signature hip-hop influences. BLVK JVCK is famously known as half of the legendary production duo The Runners, who have worked with everyone from DJ Khaled (“Go Hard”) to Rihanna (“California King Bed”) to Rick Ross “Hustlin'”). “No Love” arrived today by way of Deadbeats, the record label helmed ...
After months of sharing singles, Big Thief officially announced their fifth studio album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You. The project will be the band’s most ambitious yet, clocking in at 20 tracks, and was recorded in four different locations: Upstate New York, Topanga Canyon, The Rocky Mountains, and Tucson, Arizona. Each locale drew up different feelings and studio vibes for the band, which helped reach the goal of “encapsulating the many different aspects of Adrianne [Lenker]’s songwriting and the band onto a single record,” explains a press release. “One of the things that bonds us together as a band is pure magic,” Lenker said in a statement. “I think we all have the same guide and none of us have ever spoken what it is because we couldn’t name it, but somehow, we are...
With his new remix of Dolly Parton‘s “Jolene,” Destructo is officially EDM’s latest superstar to pop on a pair of cowboy boots and try his hand at a lil’ country twang. Only in this case, the boots are probably pink, paired with rhinestones and a V-neck for good measure. Out via RCA and Sony Music, Destructo’s version is one of the only official “Jolene” remixes to ever grace the ears of the public and, according to Parton in a press release, it’s her favorite. “It makes me want to dance!” she said. Notably, this isn’t the Queen of Country’s first foray into electronic music. In 2019, her collaboration with Galantis and Mr. Probz, “Faith,” topped the charts with its of-the-moment tro...
Besides the occasional lab experiment, you typically won’t find anything interesting in science class unless you want to grow up to be—well—a scientist. But when Zach Montoya and Brayden James found each other, it was instant chemistry. Connecting over a shared interest in music production, the duo launched their collaborative syence moniker after meeting in a college science class. Like the molecules and ions they studied, they formed a strong bond, eventually concocting their most potent compound yet: a five-track EP called bass pop. bass pop is not only a breakthrough for the duo, but also a showcase of a new genre, the EP’s namesake. Its goal is to encapsulate a new sound “that many may have never heard before,” according to syence. The five-track record, w...
EDM is for the birds. At least that’s the case for Canadian electronic music producer Hudson Lee, whose latest single “Flock Call,” a collaboration with Frequent, samples the voice of his pet cockatiel, Bijou. What’s next, a whole zoo? Bijou’s chirps can be heard amongst a host of distorted bass and spacey synths in “Flock Call.” Wildly experimental—literally—the song manages to weave together hypnotic sound design and biomusic elements as if it was recorded underwater. Coming in at a lengthy six minutes, “Flock Call” represents just a fraction of the adventures Bijou has in store with Lee. With a potential lifespan of 25 years, there’s no telling what this father-feather duo will come up with next. Recommended Ar...
