Foo Fighters are now a Bee Gees tribute band. No, this is not some kind of out of season April Fools joke. After a masterful return to the stage over the weekend at Madison Square Garden, their first post-COVID performance, the iconic rock band were quick to announce their next big musical endeavor—becoming the Dee Gees. Fans won’t have long to process the surprising development as the group’s forthcoming disco record under the new alias is out next month. According to Rolling Stone, the 10-track offering, titled Hail Satin, will bundle five Bee Gees classics—“You Should Be Dancing,” Night Fever,” “Tragedy,” “More Than a Woman,” and “Shadow Dancing—along with five disco-inspired editions of songs from Foo Fighters’ recent album, Med...
The family of Katie Dix, a teen who died after an apparent drug overdose at the 2015 edition of the HARD Summer music festival, has requested to dismiss a lawsuit filed against Live Nation. Dix, who was 19 at the time of her death, had consumed a fatal combination of MDMA and Ethylone, a drug more commonly known as bath salts. According to Bloomberg Law, witnesses said that the festival’s security team failed to offer any aid until medical professionals arrived, which took around 20 minutes. Dix’s parents, Mark and Pamela Dix, went on to file a wrongful death lawsuit against Live Nation on the grounds that the promoter demonstrated negligence and breached their duties to protect her from the distribution and ingestion of illegal drugs. Katie Dix died of an apparent drug overdos...
Following the resurfacing of a short TikTok compilation of old clips of Billie Eilish lip-syncing a racial slur from Tyler, The Creator’s “Fish” and speaking gibberish that was interpreted as “mocking Asians,” Eilish expressed remorse for her past actions…from when she was 13. In an apology in an Instagram story, the Grammy-winning pop artist wrote she “didn’t know” the mouthed word “was a derogatory term used against members of the asian community” at the time of the recordings when she was “13 or 14.” In response to the “mocking Asians” claim, she says “that edited clip is me speaking in a silly gibberish made up voice… something i started doing as a kid and have done my whole life when talking to my pets, friends, and family. it is absolute gibberish and just me goofing around, and is i...
Two days after reopening full-scale live music in New York City, the Foo Fighters are going to do the same thing in their home of Los Angeles. Dave Grohl and company will be performing at the Forum in Inglewood on Saturday, July 17, the first full-capacity indoor show in the area. Coincidentally, the show takes place on the same day that the band’s Bee Gees tribute album is released. If it’s anything like their tiny club show in suburban Los Angeles in Agoura Hills (about an hour or so away from the Forum without traffic) and at Madison Square Garden, it will probably be pretty eventful. And that’s not to mention the anti-vax protesters who picketed outside of both shows. If you remember, Dave Chappelle joined the band for a version of Radiohead’s “Creep,” which surprised most everyone in ...
The BMW X5 M, you probably know it well by now. It’s what happens when BMW takes the normal X5 and grants it with supercar power and sports car handling. Since its introduction roughly a decade ago, the X5 M has been changing our perception of what a performance SUV can be. And it was inspired by an ultra-powerful prototype SUV from Munich that was far more bonkers than the X5 M that followed: the X5 Le Mans. Just how extreme was the X5 Le Mans? Completely revised bodywork—including a new hood, bulging fenders, and a lower ride height—give the Le Mans a punchy look. Lightweight BBS LM wheels and a roll cage were added later. Lightweight buckets replace the original seats, and a gear lever for the six-speed manual transmission stands proud in the center console. But the real show...

The label will offer in-house marketing and PR services, in addition to artist development. While Cordae has yet to sign any artists, he says that there are a few he has his eye on. “Everybody thinks my first artist is gonna rap like me, when that may not be the case at all,” says Cordae. “If we find the next Jazmine Sullivan, I’d be extremely happy.” Christian says Cordae’s vision spans beyond the music, centering the importance of signed artists’ personal and professional growth. “Hi Level was created to focus on the well-being of artists and creatives, even before the business,” says Christian. “Artist developme...

Dylan completists have seen much of this material in other forms but for the less indoctrinated, there are nuggets to be mined, such as from Paris in 1966 when Dylan – in his skinny-suit glory – faces a hostile audience that feels he’s betrayed his folk roots by going electric, spending an inordinate amount of time tuning his guitar during the acoustic half of the show. “You see, my electric guitar never goes out of tune,” he says to the booing throng, dripping with sarcasm. Also being released simultaneously in newly packaged form are four concert films: Bob Dylan: Trouble No More – A Musical Film; The Other Side Of The Mirror: Bob Dylan Live At The Newport Folk Festival 1963-1965, Bob Dylan: The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration, and Bob Dylan: ...
