Slash, Kirk Hammett and Tom Morello Eulogize Eddie Van Halen During Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony usually takes place in the spring; however, like so many other plans those were changed after the coronavirus outbreak hit. With ample time to figure out an alternate plan, the Rock Hall curated a virtual celebration to honor the Class of 2020, but something it wasn’t expecting was eulogizing the great Eddie Van Halen. The Van Halen guitarist passed away on Oct. 6 after a decades-long battle with cancer, and Slash, Tom Morello, and Metallica’s Kirk Hammett paid tribute to the legendary axe man during the ceremony. “Eddie Van Halen was a tremendously gifted musician,” Slash said. “His style and his sound were completely unique to him. He had a massive impact on guitar playing. I don’t think there’s anybody who’s picked up guitar since 1978 t...

Buy This 807-HP Mopar Crate Engine, Give Your Car Demon Power

We’ll always miss the Challenger Demon, the limited-production street-legal drag-strip-demolisher that wowed back in 2017. We’re glad Dodge revived much of its spirit with the new Super Stock, and in case that isn’t enough for you, Mopar is now offering a new crate engine that can give your project car the heartbeat of both mighty Dodges. The familiar 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V-8 delivers 807 hp, the same output as the Super Stock and 1 pony less than in the Demon. The crate engine’s torque rating matches the Demon at 717 lb-ft, and it is the most powerful muscle-car engine Mopar has ever made available to home builders, at least when it comes to production-based engines. See all 27 photos A less powerful version of the engine is also found in the Challenger and ...

Liquid Tesla? EV Automaker’s $250 Tequila Is Already Sold Out

“Merchandising!” Short of “the Schwartz,” there’s arguably nothing more important to Spaceballs‘ Yogurt than merchandising. It seems Tesla’s chief executive officer, Elon Musk, took this to heart, too. Not only does his company’s electric vehicles feature nods to the 1987 Mel Brooks comedy (we’re looking at you, Ludicrous mode and Model S Plaid), his other venture, The Boring Company, leaned on Yogurt’s “Spaceballs the Flamethrower” joke to build and sell a number of so-called “Not a Flamethrower” flamethrowers. The latest bit of merchandising by Musk, though, comes in the form of Tesla Tequila. That’s right, Tesla, the automaker, is selling booze right through its website (albeit fulfilled ...

Live Nation Sees Path to Resuming Live Shows at Scale By Summer 2021

With persisting restrictions on large gatherings and events worldwide, concert giant  Live Nation reported another quarter of earnings that didn’t exactly excite investors. The top line number included a 95% drop in year-over-year revenue compared to Q3 2019, leading to an operating loss of $504 million for the quarter. Despite the unsightly financial results, Live Nation’s CEO Michael Rapino spoke to a rosier outlook for the company in the coming year. In addition to continued efficiencies in cost-cutting, Rapino stated that the company “expect[s] shows at scale next summer.” It’s a bullish statement given current uncertainties around government pandemic restrictions and the deployment of an effective vaccine. Rapino cited advancements in testing, v...

Getter’s Next EP Will “Blow NAPALM Out of the Water”

Getter‘s fanbase is still buzzing after the explosive release of NAPALM, which dropped October 30th via his Shred Collective banner. With its hard-hitting bass flavors and unique tinctures of experimental sound design, the six-track project was well-deserving of its fiery namesake. Now, Getter is promising another EP that “blows NAPALM out of the water,” he said in a tweet. All we’re waiting on is for the producer to replace a busted laptop so he can finish up the music.  In a recent interview, Getter told EDM.com he is looking to showcase the different kinds of sounds he’s been pursuing through a series of EPs, meaning more surprise releases like this upcoming project can be expected in the future.  “Whatever the fuck I wanna make and put...

Finneas Drops Timely New Single ‘Where the Poison Is’

As many musicians celebrate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ historic election win, FINNEAS is taking it one step further by releasing a timely new single called “Where the Poison Is.” The upbeat tune makes references to the coronavirus pandemic (“When the month of March felt more like 40 years”) and Trump’s response to it (“When all my friends get sick it’s on the President/ When all my friends get sick it’s on his government”) before unleashing full-on scorn during the chorus. “Take me to the place where the poison is/ To put a face to what’s poisonous/ To give him a little taste of his medicine/ There’s a snake that thinks it’s the President,” he sings. Listen to “Where the Poison Is” below. [embedded content] This is the third single FINNEAS has dropped this year, following “Can’t Wait to ...
