HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz This year’s edition of the MTV Video Music Awards will be a truly unique one, as LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow have been named as the emcees for the event. The network announced on Thursday (August 18th) that instead of one artist serving as the emcee for the night, they are calling on the Hip-Hop trio to do the honors which include introducing the major performing acts for the awards show. The move marks a return to the origins of the awards show for MTV, as comedic actors Dan Aykroyd and Bette Midler served as hosts for the first show that was held in 1984, and a group of MTV’s own VJs (“Downtown” Julie Brown, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter, Martha Quinn, and Dweezil Zappa)took over the reins in 1986 and 19...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Amy E. Price / Getty As social media wished Young Thug a happy birthday earlier this week, the “Lifestyle” rapper was wishing on a star that a judge would grant him a bond order so that he could once again walk a semi-free man. He was denied. According to the Huffpost, Georgia Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville denied Young Thug (Jeffery Williams) the chance to post bond after hearing a “slew of outstanding motions in the case against the musician” from prosecutors on the case. Young Thug, Gunna and almost 30 other defendants are currently facing a 65-count indictment in a RICO case which alleges that Thugga is the leader of the YSL crew. To date no one in custody has been granted bond as Judge Glanville fears additional felonies can be committed as...
HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Karwai Tang / Getty Controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate has been unceremoniously banned from Facebook and Instagram. For those of you sure asking, Andrew Tate is a former kickboxer who rose to fame after appearing, and also getting booted, from Big Brother in the UK in 2015. But more recently, his videos which reportedly are heavy on misogyny, have been racking up views on Tik Tok, and in turn he reached a peak of over 5 million followers on Instagram. Reported the BBC: His content has raised concerns about the real-world effect it could have, especially on the younger users exposed to it during their school holidays when they have time on thei...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Chicago Tribune / Getty A Chicago, Illinois woman testified in court that she and disgraced entertainer R.Kelly had sexual encounters numerous times before she was 18 years old. According to reports, the 37-year-old woman testifying under the name of Jane Doe made those statements during Kelly’s second federal trial on Thursday (August 18). She is the key witness for the prosecution in these proceedings. The lawyers stated that they would play pieces of recordings that Kelly made of him engaging her in sexual acts when she was only 15. It was the same recording that was used as evidence in the infamous 2008 trial where the singer was charged with child pornography, after which he was acquitted partially because Jane was too young to testify at the time. HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Tim Mosenfelder / Getty Pusha T doesn’t have anything left to prove in Hip-Hop as he is consistently considered one of the most precise rappers to emerge in the game. Pusha T and his airtight delivery remain the hallmark of his still ongoing career, along with his descriptive ways of breaking down the ins and outs of the drug trade.
