At least 13 people were killed and six others injured in a stampede at an illegal nightclub party in Lima, Peru on Saturday, as partygoers attempted to escape a police raid on the venue, according to CNN. Mass gatherings are currently prohibited in Peru because of the coronavirus pandemic. After receiving reports from nearby residents, police conducted a raid on Thomas Restobar at around 9:00 p.m. local time. Approximately 120 people were in attendance at the time, and they rushed to escape through a single door located on the ground level. The British government has announced three more charter flights for more hundreds of its citizens set to return home from Nigeria. Already, more than 1,700 British travellers had been evacuated out of Nigeria back to the UK on special charter flights between April and May from Lagos and Abuja airports. Details of the coming new flights include the charter flight slated for Friday 29 May from Lagos to London. The other special flights will be operated on Monday 1st June between Lagos and London while the third flight which comes up Saturday 6th June from Abuja to London. A baby was born with the coronavirus in Russia’s Caucasus region, health officials were quoted by TASS news agency as saying on Sunday, to a mother who is also infected. The birth in the North Ossetia city of Beslan follows one in mid-April in Peru, which health officials there said was the second known case of a COVID-19 positive newborn worldwide. In North Ossetia, “a pregnant woman was infected by the coronavirus, and her baby was born infected”, a regional health ministry spokesman was quoted by the state agency TASS as saying. “They are now at home, their state is satisfactory,” the spokesman added.
