Dr. Oz Expected to Run for Pennsylvania Senate Seat

Celebrity doctor and pyramid scheme pitchman Mehmet Oz is likely to join Pennsylvania’s US Senate race, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Pennsylvania Republicans told the paper that Dr. Oz has already contacted top campaign aides and is ready to spend his diet pill money to win the race. With Republican Senator Pat Toomey not seeking reelection, the Pennsylvania Senate seat is one of the country’s most critical races in deciding control of the Senate. Republican firebrand Sean Parnell was an early, Trump-backed frontrunner, but he recently suspended his campaign following accusations of domestic abuse from his estranged wife. Parnell left the race wide open between a sea of conservative candidates. Dr. Oz could announce his candidacy as soon as this week. In anticipation, the l...

Dave Chappelle’s High School Moving Forward with Plans to Rename Theater in His Honor

Dave Chappelle’s high school is moving forward with plans to rename a theater in his honor despite a contentious meeting between the comedian and some of the school’s students during an event last week. The Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC “stand[s] behind our decision to honor the wishes of our co-founder, the late Peggy Cooper Cafritz, to name the theatre after Chappelle,” reads a statement from the school released on Monday. Last week, Chappelle made an unannounced visit to his alma matter ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. During a Q&A with students, the comedian faced questions about his recent Netflix special, The Closer, which included controversial comments about the transgender community. Matthew McConaughey Will Not Run for Texas Governor

Matthew McConaughey has bowed out of the upcoming Texas gubernatorial election. The 52-year-old actor announced his decision in a video message posted to Instagram on Sunday night. “As a simple kid born in the little town of Uvalde, Texas, it never occurred to me that I would one day be considered for political leadership,” McConaughey said. “It’s a humbling and inspiring path to ponder. It is also a path that I’m choosing not to take at this moment.” Instead, McConaughey said he would “continue to work and invest the bounty I have by supporting entrepreneurs, businesses and foundations that I’ve believe are leaders, establishments that I believe are creating pathways for people to succeed in life, organizations that have a mission to serve and build trust while also generating prosperity....

Dwayne Johnson Gifts Navy Vet His Custom Truck

Dwayne Johnson turned the attention back to a very special fan during a recent screening of his Netflix movie Red Notice. “I invited fans to a special theater screening of Red Notice and I wanted to do something cool for all of them,” Johnson wrote on social media. “I also wanted to do something BIG… something MASSIVE… something unforgettable for one fan. My original idea was to give away the Porsche Taycan, that I drive in the movie, Red Notice. So we reached out to Porsche, but they said no. But I still said, yes. I’ll do one better. I’ll give away my personal custom [Ford F-150] truck as the gift. My baby.” The lucky fan in question was a Navy veteran and personal trainer named Oscar, who in addition to taking care of his 75-year-old mother, also volunteers as a leader at his churc...

Judas in National Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar Indicted in Capitol Insurrection

Caught silver-handed? An actor in the national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar has been charged for taking part in the January 6th insurrection at the US Capitol, The Hollywood Reporter notes. James D. Beeks, who plays Judas Iscariot in the traveling Broadway production under the stage name James T. Justis, has been charged with one count of obstruction of Congress and one count of unlawfully entering a restricted building or grounds. An investigation by the Washington DC US Attorney’s Office revealed the actor to be associated with the far-right extremist militia group the Oath Keepers, and paid dues to the anti-government organization just two weeks prior to the insurrection. Beeks also works as a Michael Jackson impersonator, and was identified by authorities by the “Bad” jacke...

Trump’s New Book is Quite Literally a Picture Book

Former President and known wordsmith Donald Trump is releasing a new book — of pictures. Rolling Stone reports that Our Journey Together, Trump’s first book since he became president, will be released December 7th through Winning Team Publishing, the company he started with Sergio Gor. Yet Trump, king of subtlety, tells the story of “our” journey not through evocative prose, but through the more straightforward curation of 300+ images. Make no mistake, however: Trump wrote the book’s captions. A sneak peak obtained by The Washington Examiner offers a picture of the former president with former Vice President Mike Pence in conversation with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. “Attempting to listen to Crazy Nancy Pelosi in the Oval Office — such natural disagreement,” Trump’s caption reads...

Ava DuVernay, Questlove, George Takei, and More React to Kyle Rittenhouse Verdict

Today (November 19th), Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted of first-degree intentional homicide and four other felony charges after killing two people and shooting another during Black Lives Matter protests that arose in Kenosha, Wisconsin last August after police shot and killed Jacob Blake. Following the verdict, actors, musicians, writers, and comedians responded on social media by expressing outrage but not surprise. Actor George Takei had pointed words about the judicial system. “Justice denied is a body blow to our national psyche. On trial was not only a killer, but a system that continues to kill,” he wrote. “Today that system defeated true justice, once again. But mark these words: We will never stop fighting for what is right and just.” Meanwhile, LeVar Burton got straight to the poin...

Wyclef Jean Dropped Range Rover’s CEO on His Head During Corporate Party

In a scene straight out of Succession, Wyclef Jean was hired to play a corporate gig for Range Rover, only to then nearly paralyze the company’s CEO by dropping him on his head. TMZ has video of the incident (see below), which occurred at the Range Rover Leadership Summit on Monday night. At some point during the evening, Wyclef decided to hoist the company’s CEO and President, Joe Eberhardt, onto his shoulders. With The Outfield’s “I Don’t Wanna Lose Your Love Tonight” playing in the background, the two basked in the surreal moment — until it all came tumbling down. Wyclef eventually lost his balance and proceeded to drop the elder Eberhardt right on his head. Fortunately, Eberhardt escaped seriously injury, but he certainly appears dazed in the video, and ended up leaving the party early...
