Lawsuits Filed Against Travis Scott, Drake & Live Nation Over Astroworld Tragedy
The first two lawsuits have been filed against Travis Scott, Live Nation, and other entities affiliated with Astroworld Festival in light of Friday night’s tragic events that left eight people dead and hundreds injured. In a lawsuit filed Saturday in Harris County District Court, an attendee named Manuel Souza, who was injured at Astroworld, said negligence on the part of Scott and Live Nation led to a “predictable and preventable tragedy.” “Defendants failed to properly plan and conduct the concert in a safe manner,” said Souza’s attorney, Steve Kherkher of the law firm Kherkher Garcia LLP. “Instead, they consciously ignored the extreme risks of harm to concertgoers, and, in some cases actively encouraged and fomented dangerous behaviors.” Advertisement Related Video Souza’s lawsuit speci...
Travis Scott Has Long History of Encouraging Reckless Behavior at His Concerts
Investigators are still determining the cause of the stampede at Astroworld Festival that left eight people dead and hundreds of others injured. However, even before Friday night’s tragedy, Travis Scott had a long history of reckless behavior when it came to crowd control and safety. In August 2015, Scott was charged with disorderly conduct after police said he urged fans to climb over barricades at Chicago’s Lollapalooza and led a chant of “We want rage.” The scene became so chaotic that officers attempted to detain Scott during his performance and he briefly fled the scene. Scott pleaded guilty to reckless conduct charges and was ordered under court supervision. Scott faced similar charges in May 2017 after encouraging fans to join him on stage during a concert in Fayetteville, Arkansas....

At least eight people were killed and hundreds more were injured at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival in Houston on Friday night after a large crowd stormed to the front of the stage. At least 23 people were transported by ambulance to local hospitals, including 11 who were in cardiac arrest. Ahead of this weekend’s Astroworld Festival, Travis Scott has shared two new singles: “Escape Plan” and “Mafia.” It marks his first new single since 2020’s “Franchise.” Scott teased the release just a few hours earlier with a spooky Instagram post: “FUCK IT LETS START IT UP NEW MUSIC AT MIDNIGHT,” he wrote.
